Can a chronic urinary infection affect my chances of conception?
There is no data to indicate that urinary infections in women can impact their ability to achieve pregnancy.
Couples who are attempting pregnancy may commonly experience what is called "honeymoon cystitis" from frequent intercourse. The physical motion of intercourse can result in bacteria
being moved into the bladder from the vagina.
Here are a few things to try:
- Drink cranberry juice regularly.
- Urinate if possible before and immediately after intercourse.
- If you wear nylon undergarments (such as the popular thong type), switch to looser-fitting cotton briefs.
