Before I knew I was pregnant, I regretfully used cocaine. I was approximately 5 weeks pregnant, and I haven't done it since. I'm driving myself crazy with guilt and fear. Will my baby be OK?
Your baby will likely be OK because you are not continuing to use cocaine. It is extremely important to notify your doctor and to not use ever again. You will not be penalized for having used in the past as long as you make efforts to stay clear of all drugs and alcohol from here on out. Your doctor can help by doing the kind of testing (i.e. ultrasounds) needed to check on the baby. He or she can also recommend support groups and social workers to help you stay drug-free.
