My 14-year-old daughter has emotionally matured faster than my 11-year-old son. Is this normal?
Girls are generally two years ahead of boys in maturity level. On top of that, each individual has his or her own unique rate of maturing depending on intelligence, social skills, temperament, etc. Be careful that your son does not get a label of being "immature." It will only aggravate the problem. There are disadvantages to a child being "mature" and advantages to a child being "immature." Continue to have realistic expectations for your son, and he'll get to where he needs to be."
