Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I have updated. Things have been really crazy around here!!!
The last time that I posted an entry, I was heading to the doctor to find out what they were going to do about my skinny stones. So, I now have a pre-op appointment scheduled this Thursday to have blood work etc., done, then next Thursday I will have the actual procedure done. It is an outpatient procedure and I am scheduled for first thing in the morning, therefore, according to their schedule, I should be home by 3:00 p.m. It sounds kind of funny, but I am actually looking forward to it, after 10 months it's time!! God was smiling on me and kept me pain free for my entire vacation, so thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!!
Speaking of my vacation, it was great!! We really enjoyed our time in Washington and especially enjoyed meeting a fellow Mom's Today diary writer and her adorable little family. We had the pleasure of dining with Christina, Mike and Ethan at the Spaghetti Factory in Tacoma Washington. We all ate lots of gooey, cheesy garlic bread, pasta and spumoni....did I say YUMMMM!!! It was really nice to meet them and we had a great time just talking in person and getting to know each other a little better. After threatening to maim them on the ride home before hand, (if they acted up) the girls behaved pretty well and Mackenna even showed off her little trick of clapping her hands together right on cue. Not to be outdone, we were entertained by Ethan and his animal growl, how cute is he!! All in all we had a great time and the evening ended even better when Mike and Christina generously picked up the tab for the dinner and then presented us with a beautiful book on Washington as a keepsake.....what a couple of sweethearts!!
The rest of the vacation was wonderful albeit VERY BUSY!!! In 17 days we drove just under 4,400 miles and with 3 little girls in tow. I have to admit quite proudly that the girls were WONDERFUL!! Kimmi asked roughly five miles down the road the night we left "are we there yet" and I thought that we had made a HUGE mistake, but it was great! We are planning another road trip to San Diego in the spring and will not hesitate to jump in the car (okay - van) with the girls again. PLEASE NOTE - we did not have to drug them!! HAHA!!
The girls were a little overwhelmed at all of the family as they really did not remember meeting them before (for the most part) and in 17 days they encountered 5 cousins, 15 second cousins, 3 aunts, 2 uncles, 6 great aunts, 6 great uncles, 3 grandmas, 2 grandpas and 3 great grandmas..........
WHEW!!! That makes me tired and I know who they are!! Can you imagine how overwhelming that would be for them?? I tried to remember that when they would get crabby!! Since we are home, they have all returned to their angelic (lol) state!! (No, I am not taking drugs)
Lexi is glad to be back at school and missed all of her friends. We had a blast doing educational things with her and enjoyed visiting the rain forest, and some the of Victorian fishing villages in Washington. Her favorite part of the vacation was the wild animal park (although she did not enjoy the Ostrich who bite her hand), the limo ride (for Jeremy's Grandma's 80th Birthday) and riding quad runners with my Aunt and Uncle in Southern Oregon.
Kimmi is not as happy to be home as she really liked being on vacation, but she did use the time in the car to her advantage. She choose that time to ask all of those three year old intriguing questions about male vs. female body parts. As I have already done this once, it was not quite as hard, but still interesting. Jeremy in his ever important role as daddy (he's really shy), pretended to be asleep and therefore, got to forego all answers.
Mackenna, where has the time gone? My littlest angel is now 10 months old. She is walking and talking more every day. During our vacation she started taking timid steps by herself and now walks everywhere until she falls down. It's cute to see how gutsy they are and to go from walking with their hands up in the for balance to down at their sides for speed. I try to remember to savor every moment as I know what will come next. Talking.......I truly believe that having older siblings pushes younger ones to achieve verbal skills more quickly. Kenna can say Mama, Dada, Baba (her daycare provider) Ba (bottle) Da (dog) Deee (kitty) I (hi) and dis (this). She can clap and wave and will kiss you if you beg her! She liked to kiss her cousin and stuck her tongue in this mouth several times (he's 20 months old) - HUSSY!!! LOL!!
I would like to welcome the new diary writer's at Mom's Today and say congratulations to the new Mommy's announcing their pregnancies!!
Till next time,
Stephanie
