Stephanie's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
September 27, 2002
I guess that I left a few things out of my intro and kind of wanted to back up and do over before I start this new entry.
I turned 31 years old in February and Germ will be 33 in December. We were married in Colorado, but moved to California right after the wedding (at least I did). Germ was in the Navy and stationed on a submarine in Mare Island, California (near San Francisco), so he had to return and I had to move there until his enlistment was up (approximately one year).
We met through a friend that I went out to visit, when he was stationed in San Diego, and they were roommates at the time. I guess that we both knew we had a connection immediately. He asked me to marry him on our first date, but I refused. We were married almost one year to the day of our first meeting and have been happily married for the last 10 years. Germ works for Sysco foods here in Colorado and is also lucky to have a four day work schedule as well.
We wanted to wait at least two years after we were married before we started our family, and Lexi was born just a few months before our third anniversary. I think that I will try to write a little bit about each girls "birth - baby story" in the next few entries so that they each have an entry of their own and so that you are not inundated with baby "stuff".
Now on to one little foot goes tap, tap, tap..........
Lexi and Kimmi are both taking dance lessons. Lexi's is a combination Tap and Ballet class, while Kimmi is taking Ballet only. With that said, I am going nuts!!! Now let me say that any "first" your child has is a memory that you will hold forever both in your heart and in your head, but HOLY HECK, Kimmi is driving me crazy!!!!
Lexi has been in dance for two years prior to this, but this is Kimmi's first year. They are learning the positions and for all former ballerina's, you know what I mean. To get the children to sit and listen, they start the class;
One little foot goes tap, tap, tap
Two little hands go clap, clap, clap
One little bottom sits right down........etc.,
Now if I have heard this once, I have heard it several hundred times. Trust me, it is no longer CUTE. It's good thing she is, or I might just leave her there. ONLY JOKING!!!
Ah, first loves.....or not!
Lexi is in the second grade and loves school, but that's about all she loves. A little boy in her class has a crush on her and offered to buy her a goldfish and then called and left a message on our answering machine. I thought it was cute, she thought it was gross and that was pretty much the end of that. Not that I would encourage any such thing, but I remember being a little girl and having my first crush. It's funny how it all seemed so serious at the time.
Little Ms. Mackenna is growing like a weed. It is amazing how they just grow by leaps and bounds and seem to become toddlers overnight. She now shakes her head no and smacks her lips when you don't feed her fast enough.
Lexi makes her laugh and Kimmi makes her crazy!! Lexi can pretty much do anything and Mackenna thinks it's funny and because Kimmi squats down to her level, she thinks that they are the same size, but cannot figure out why she cannot do the same things that Kimmi can. It's really interesting, you can almost see the wheels turning trying to grasp those concepts.
Both Germ and I have been busy with work and school stuff. We are very active in Lexi's school and both hold positions in the PTO. It's hard to believe that by the time that Mackenna moves on to middle school, we will have spent 13 years at that Elementary school (and to think I have gray hair now!!!)
I think that about wraps it up on our end for the week, but just wanted to ask:
What do you actively do to make memories for your children?
What kind of traditions do you have that you are passing on?
What do you want your children to pass down to their children?
These are the things that I want to touch on these things next week in my diary, so please post on my TTM board if you have a minute.
Till next time,
Stephanie
