School Stuff ~
Things have been crazy busy around here (as usual) and I am still going strong with the Silent Auction and School Supply kits. The Carnival and Silent Auction is on the 16th of May and the final orders for school supply kits are due on May 20th, so just a few more weeks and I should be able to catch up with everyone. I SWEAR that I am still reading everyone's diaries (I've stolen Allisun's idea and have been printing them out), but I just don't have the time to post right now ~ I hope that everyone forgives me!! : ) I've been pleasantly surprised that we've gotten a really positive donation response this year. I would have thought that due to the economy and the war that people would be less generous, but that has not been the case. We are getting things in the mail everyday and I am hoping that we will have a wonderful turnout at the event and that people will be willing to bid on the items that we have received. Cross your fingers and say a few prayers for me, we're hoping to raise $10,000.00.
Every Spring the school also has a teacher raffle where for $1.00 you get five chances to win "something" with the teacher of your choice. Each teacher gets to choose what their "something" will be. Last year Lexi won breakfast from McDonald's with the principal and she got to bring a friend, they got out of class, ate, drank and visited in his office, she really had a good time. This year she won again (I need to let her buy the Powerball tickets) and won a pizza and ice cream lunch for herself and two friends with her teacher from last year, it was announced last week and she can't stop talking about it. It's the little things that mean so much!! LOL!!
Snow Storm ~
I know that I mentioned a couple of diary entries ago about our huge blizzard here and all the snow that we had. What I failed to mention was that somehow when we dug ourselves out and were transferring Germ's truck over to the parking lot he lost his wallet. After searching for a few days to no avail, we gave up hope and cancelled everything that we own and had our cards re-issued etc. A few days later we received a phone call from a 16 year old boy and while walking to school he found a picture of Kenna and Germ's drivers license. They had both been run over numerous times, or chewed up and spit out of the snowplow, but they were his nonetheless. Germ offered him a reward (which he refused) and we thought that having his drivers license returned was better than nothing. It did stump us both that the drivers license and picture were somehow "thrown" from the wallet and the only items found. Two days after the return of the picture and license, we received a phone call from a man who found Germ's actual wallet in the snow on his way to the bus stop. Germ offered him a reward (which he refused) and all of the other articles were safe and sound in his wallet (except $20.00), it was all very odd!! It definitely restored our faith in the kindness of strangers, to have two separate people locate and return items from his wallet was overwhelming and though neither of them will ever read my diary, I wanted to mention it and thank them anyway.
I quit ~
A couple of weeks ago, I was having one of "THOSE" mornings. You know, the kind where everything that can go wrong does. Lexi and I were arguing over the fact that she wanted to wear her tall brown boots to school on gym day, I eventually won and she wore tennis shoes, but it was tiring just the same. Kimmi wet the bed (which hasn't happened for over six months) and I had to strip her sheets before we left the house. I finally got them all in the car and was backing out of the driveway (20 minutes late) when I heard that sound that every mother knows. You know, the sound that you hear in your nightmares, that awful retching, gagging and throwing up sound and then the smell that clouds your vision and makes you start retching and gagging. So I pull the van back into the garage and open the door to find Mackenna sitting in her carseat and smiling with that white cottage cheese looking curdled milk puke all over her. I get her out, strip her off, wipe her down with diaper wipes, get her re-dressed, clean up the carseat, get her back in the van and we take off again (40 minutes late). I drop the girls off at daycare, where Lexi tells me that she forgot her homework (tough) and I finally head to work (50 minutes late). I arrive at work looking flustered and smelling like puke only 40 minutes late and I get a call first thing, from Germ ~ GREAT ~ so I answer the phone and tell him that I quit. He asks "did you really quit your job?", that's when I started laughing and said no, I quit being a Mom. At my job, I get paid pretty good money to surf the net and read diaries and only have to show up four days a week, plus my boss does not throw up on me. LOL!! I then told him about my exciting morning and he understood why I would want to quit. I love the fact that he plays along with me and tells me what long hours and horrible pay motherhood is, but the benefits are the best in the world. It's so much easier to laugh at yourself when your husband supports you every step of the way!
You are my sunshine ~
Every night Germ and I tuck the girls into bed together. He usually carries Kenna and the girls and I walk up the stairs, then I take Kenna from him and he goes into one of the girls' room and reads them a story, then heads into the other girls' room. I put Kenna to bed, sing her a song, cover her up and leave. I then go into the room that he just left and lay in "her" bed and we talk, then I sing her a song and leave and head to the other room and do the same thing. We've been doing this for awhile and really have our routine down pat. The funny part of the story is that the other day I had a really bad headache and was laying down on the couch, Lexi asked if she could read to me while I rested and I said yes. She read for about 15 or 20 minutes and I pretended that I was asleep. Kimmi came into the living room and wanted to know what was going on, Lexi told her that I had a headache and she just read to me, so Kimmi gets the blanket off the back of the couch, covered me up and sang "You are my Sunshine" to me. I almost started crying! How sweet that both of my older girls are so nurturing that they wanted to take care of me and even used our bedtime routine to do it. Germ was right, the benefits are the best in the world!!
Mackenna ~
Mackenna is really starting to act more like a toddler than a baby. She is interacting with both of the girls on a new level and they are taking more of an interest in actually playing with her rather than "babying" her. She thinks that she is big and can do what they do. If she does not get her way she will go into a toddler tirade and just start spewing jibberish at 100 miles an hour at them. It is hilarious to watch and listen to and both Germ and I have often wondered what she is saying to them. She is very loving and will go up to both Lexi and Kimmi and hug and kiss them. She loves to go into Kimmi's room with me and wake her up in the morning by climbing into her bed and patting her cheek until Kimmi wakes up and kisses her. I love watching her develop right before my eyes and each new accomplishment brings even more joy to our family. Last week she had a horrible diaper rash (from teething) and I let her run around naked for a little while, she bent down to do some business and I picked her up and sat her on the potty. She actually POOPED!! We were so excited and she kept clapping her hands and waving to the toilet bowl ~ how quickly they grow up!! How bittersweet it is to watch her grow and know that she will be our last little one.
Kimmi ~
How I love this little girl, she is so full of energy, spunk and light. She lights up a room and has enough energy to carry everyone else, you can see the mischief in her eyes! She is a little lover and wants to still be cuddled and hugged and kissed, I love this age!! She hasn't developed the attitudes and bad habits from her environment yet and is still her own person ~ how I wish that it would never change!! She is really shy around strangers, but when she warms up you can't help but love her and want to steal her. Both my cousin and his girlfriend tried to convince me to leave her in Oregon as they had so much fun with her that they didn't want her to go. She still loves dance class and continues her countdown each week until Dance Day. She has already asked if I am going to sign her up for lessons next year ~ how could I possibly say no?!?
Lexi ~
I just keep repeating it's the age, but when will that stop?? I never thought that I would have ANY trouble with Lexi, boy am I re-evaluating that one!! We continue to have our heart to heart nightly talks about everything and I hope that they will never end (though I'm not naive). She is really open with me and even admits that she doesn't know why she says and does some of the things that she does. She is having a rough time with a little girl at school and I'm not quite sure what to do. On one hand I believe that kids need to learn how to survive in this world and to work things out on their own. I think that the sooner that they learn this the better off they will be. Not only will they not be friends with everyone that they encounter, they may not even be able to get along with some people and they need to figure out how to deal with that. On the other hand I want to call the little girls Mom and say before this escalates I think that we should both be on the same page and just tell the girls to completely ignore each other. Here is where my conflict starts, I don't want to fight her battles and I believe that she needs to figure it out, but then she is only 8 (well next Wednesday) and she's still my baby. So I've decided to give her the tools to figure out what to do, we have discussed several scenerios (sp?) and how to handle them if they should occur. Such as walking away, telling her that she will not speak with her or play with her if she is going to be mean, telling a teacher etc. I think that since she is more confident about what to do if something happens, it's made her life a little easier. I certainly hope so anyway. (If you have any advice for me ~ I want to hear from you.) She still is not as excited about her dance class as Kimmi is, but she got her costume for the recital last weekend and she keeps trying it on, so at least she likes the dress up part!! LOL!!
Stampin' Up ~
My SIL and I threw a Stampin' Up party a few weeks ago. If you are not familiar with them, they are a "Tupperware" type business but deal with Rubber Stamps and inks, etc. We had a great turnout and our party sold over $1,200.00 in stamping items. We received ALOT of free stuff and were able to purchase even more items with our discount. As if I didn't have enough things on my plate, I just stamped all of Lexi's Birthday party invitations and plan to do alot more stamping when I have a little bit more free time. While it's not a cheap hobby, I certainly enjoy it and am looking forward to doing more projects soon. Does anyone else enjoy rubber stamping?
If you read all of the wonderful things that Nicole said about me last week, I just want to say that it's all a lie!! LOL!! Okay, I did send her a package, but that just proves that I am a complete slug and HORRIBLE procrastinator!! I have promised several things to several people (Aimee, Kim and Jeanette) and have not followed through. I have great intentions, but am very SLOW on the follow through!! Just ask Nic how long it even took for me to mail her package! Anyway, I promise that this is one of the things that I will be working on and everyone will get what I promised ~ SOON!!!!!!
I'm sorry if I have bored you to tears, my life is certainly not very exciting, but to wrap it all up, I just wanted to say how excited I am about all the new babies due here at iParenting in the coming months. So to Christina, Dawn, Aimee, Nickel and Kim ~ I wish you all the best for healthy babies and quick labor and deliveries!!!
From me and mine to you and yours ~
Stephanie
