The Players and their Stats:

Mackenna turned 1 on 12-31-02
She is 30 inches tall and 22 lbs.

Kimberleigh will be 4 on 1-20-03
She is 41 inches tall and 41 lbs.

Alexandria will be 8 on 4-30-03
She is 48 inches tall and 58 lbs.

I only know this because we visited the Pediatrician last Friday for Mackenna's one year checkup and the other two demanded a little time in the spotlight as well. I thought that I would put their stats down here as I may not remember them in another week or two to transfer to their baby books.

What a wonderful first year with Mackenna we've had, from the sweet smell of a newborn fresh from the bath, to sitting up, crawling, walking then running, I wonder what's next in store for us?? We made it through Mackenna's Birthday and I didn't have a meltdown, so I believe that was a good sign. We had her party at my Mom's house in conjunction with New Year's and kept things pretty low key. We ate lunch, played Trivial Pursuit and watched Kenna rub chocolate cake all over her face and arms. What a great summation of a first year!!!

Since time keeps moving on, I suppose that it's unavoidable that Kimberleigh will turn four next week. While I can continue to wonder how it's gone so quickly, I think that it's pretty self explanatory, but not any easier. For her Birthday we decided to re-do her room. While slapping some paint on the walls and hanging a new valance would have been pretty easy, we decided to RE-DO the room. We tore out the window seat and are replacing it with an oak window seat, replacing the molding with oak, replacing her closet doors with mirrored ones (I'm sure she will appreciate this in a few years), replacing her bedroom door and of course painting, hanging a new valance, comforter, sheets etc., etc. She perused the magazines and picked out her own decor and given her choice of quite a few, she picked a bug theme. It is really cute and gives us a lot to work with as the colors are not just vibrant, but really varied.

Here's where we left our senses at home ~ we let her pick the paint color. Now I guess it's not that bad, we gave her a couple of color swatches and let her pick from there, but the color of choice was green. In the store (bet you can see this one coming) it was a light lime green color, on her walls it looks darker, not necessarily bad, just darker. Now I have to say that Kimmi is hilarious, I truly believe that she has a calling as a stand up comic and she loves to perform, so given that, she walks into the room, puts her hand on her hip and says "I didn't know the color was Shrek green." After we stopped laughing, we discussed what are we going to do with her??
While the room is a little darker than anticipated once we add the border and the bugs, comforter and all it won't be too bad and hey most importantly, I don't have to sleep in it!! GRIN!!

My Aunt always makes things for the girls and made Kimmi a bug blanket to hang on the wall, it arrived in the mail today and is absolutely adorable!! Kimmi carried it around for a while and then put it on the dining room table, so "the beast can't get it", which is how she refers to Mackenna. I cannot wait until her room is done so that we can get things back to normal. We put her bed in Lexi's room while the painting etc., was taking place and they NEVER go to bed on time!! Last night we caught them jumping from Lexi's bed to Kimmi's bed and back again, I guess somethings you just have to let go and this was one of them!! The joys of Motherhood!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the show "While you Were Out" on TLC and have been taking design lessons from them or is that stealing ideas...hmmmm. Anyway, we have decided to hang cork on the back wall of Kimmi's room so she will have a bulletin board in her room to hang things and hopefully avoid the tape on the wall kind of thing. I'm hoping that it's not just a good idea in theory kind of thing, I'll let you know how this turns out.

Lexi is doing her part in driving me crazy! Growing up with two older brothers, I was a serious tomboy, I did not know that almost 8 year old little girls are SOOOOOO moody! I don't know if the whole hormone in our food thing is true and taking effect here, but holy cow, somedays I think I should have named her Cybil. One second we will be laughing and joking and the next she is crying, she's not even 8 yet.....maybe it's a phase??? (Shannon, queen of all Mothers, some assistance here please!!).

She participated in her school's Multi cultural night last night, each grade was assigned a different country and were responsible for the artwork, songs and dancing for each. Second grade was assigned Mexico and in addition to the singing and dancing, they had an art show of the pieces that the kids made of Mexican art, it was really neat and impressive how creative the kids were. The best part is I get to listen to songs sung in Spanish over and over and over and over again. I should be paid for this job in more than hugs and kisses!!

Both Lexi and Kimmi are still taking dance lessons and their recital is in June - at two different times....AGHHH!! How can they do this to people?? Kimmi performs mid-day and Lexi performs at night, 7:30 at night to be exact, which is Mackenna's bed time, I'm not sure what we are going to do, but I suppose we will have to work something out.

I posted in my last entry that I would discuss my New Year's resolutions this time, so here goes:

1. Lose weight ~ lots of it!! I stopped smoking the day that I found out I was pregnant with Lexi and have never weighed the same since. It just keeps getting worse! While I certainly cannot blame all of my weight gain on quitting smoking some of it has to be attributed to it.

2. Give up Dr. Pepper, this of course would be in conjunction with resolution #1 and I have to say that I have made HUGE strides in this area. As a matter of fact, the last Dr. Pepper that I drank was on January 2nd. This is huge for me! While I don't drink a lot of them each day, I started each morning with a 24oz'er. Talk about empty calories and a sugar high. This is not to say that I don't have cravings for one, because I do and have almost given in, but haven't! I have also been drinking tons of water and consequently running to the bathroom A LOT!

3. Get organized!! I think that these things are a vicious circle, being unorganized and feeling out of control and overeating and feeling out of control and just not knowing where to start. I keep repeating to myself and anyone else that will listen that this year I am downsizing. Downsizing myself and all the junk in my house. It's time to get moving and get rid of it!! While I have not been as motivated in this area as much as I would like so far, I have to get moving on it!!

Those are my three main objectives this year and I NEED to achieve them. I'm counting on you guys to keep me on track. What could be worse than having to explain to a BUNCH of people that I have not worked towards any of my goals, SO, if you see me slacking, I may need a verbal butt kicking, feel free!!

Till next time,

Stephanie

P.S. Congratulations to Dawn on becoming the newest member of the Pink Team!!
