I have been so bad about updating my diary. I just wanted to give a quick update on how things are going.
Both girls are doing fine. Lily is so excited about Christmas. She still runs screaming from Santa, but she is very into getting presents.
Elise is almost 9-months-old and she has her 6th ear infection. She has been on antibiotic for 5 days and was still tugging at her ears. Since the antibiotic did not appear to be fully working, we took her back to the doctor today. They switched her from omnicef to zithromaz (sp?). She is scheduled for tube surgery next week. We did not want to have to do it, but it has become painfully clear that we need to take that action. We are not thrilled with general anesthesia.
She has not been infection free for more than 5 days since she was 4 months old. That is just no way to live. She is such a little trooper too. She has only run a fever with one of the six infections. Thankfully, her hearing is still within normal range. However, based on the fluid levels she maintains in her tubes, the ENT says what she hears is apparently distorted.
Thanks for reading (and wish us luck with her surgery)
Sherry
Oh, Happy Holidays everyone! And if anyone has tube surgery experience, I would love to hear from you on my TTM board :)
