Dec 30 to Jan 5
Gabrielle - 3 yrs + 3 months
Sebastian - 51 weeks old!!!

This is going to be a jumble of small things so I'm not going to have my regular format of subtitles with it all organized. Horrors! I'm just too tired to get everything all nice and neat....you'll soon find out why.

Just a tidbit from the holidays....I forgot to mention that Sebastian had his FIRST haircut on Christmas Day. My little sister did it. She was the one who first cut Gabrielle's hair so we kept up with the tradition. She took off the hair coming down over his ears and cut the back straight. Now when he's active he's not a dripping mess. He looks like a BOY now not a baby. It was so weird seeing the "after" because he looked so much more mature.

I'm so much less stressed about Sebastian's first birthday party than I was with Gabrielle's. We're just having Paul's family over from 4:30pm to 7pm this Friday. It'll be an early dinner gathering -- no big deal. We won't have games or anything since there will only be four kids in total. I'm just going to make lasagna, spaghetti, fix a salad, along with cake & ice cream for dessert. I'll go out and get some balloons but it's definitely not a big thing. I'm going to spend MUCH more effort on his second birthday because he'll have much more of an appreciation for it by then.

On Thursday I told Paul that I wanted to have a garage sale on Saturday. He said fine. He'd get the kids up and get bagels and by the time he got back with them I'd be wrapping up the sale (which I planned to end at 10am). I got everything organized and priced and got it all ready Friday night in the garage. All I had to do was take everything out onto the driveway in the morning. I had the 3 activity centers out there, the carseat/stroller combo, the bathtub, the bathring, books, clothes, and miscellaneous items we don't use. I actually got people stopping buy who didn't bargain one bit on my pricing. Then I got those folks who felt that they could steal everything for nothing! What made it worse was that they were the most impolite people who'd try to bargain! That's so irritating! At least be polite when you're speaking to someone! But I got rid of some things but we still need to have another garage sale. One gal told me that she remembered when someone had a garage sale with everything priced at 50 cents. She said everything was selling like hotcakes. That's something we need to think about doing to get rid of all the odds and ends we don't use. We've definitely got to get things streamlined before we move!

Since I mentioned the move, things are going well at the house. They've got the footings in and have already got the pipes hooked up to the main line. They've got the piping throughout the first floor all installed. I think they'll pour the foundation next but I'm not sure what else they need to do before then. I'm not in construction so I don't know. But we're visiting the site every weekend or so to see the progress. I'm taking digitals every time we visit so we can log the progress. It's pretty exciting!

What would even be more exciting was if my folks decided to move out here. I told you all that when my Mom came out here for Thanksgiving we took her to our subdivision to check out the floorplans. She was really impressed by how much house we get for what we pay (compared to California). So she mentioned this to my Dad and he had me bring out some floorplans out when we visited them this Christmas. They can buy a house, get upgrades, and furnish a small 3 bedroom home for half of what their house is currently worth. Plus the cost of living is much lower here. Regular unleaded is only $1.43 right now! I would LOVE to have my folks out here in the same subdivision because then the kids could spend so much time with them. I could even go to work part-time because I know my Mom would love to watch the kids. But I'll have to wait to find out what they decide. My Dad is pretty slow at making decisions so I may have to wait a while.

Well back to the garage sale on Saturday. I was having a grand time talking with folks when Paul yells out the garage door that the kids are both sick. I'm thinking "how sick can they be?" Well it turns out they both have got one of the bugs that are going around. By 8:30am, Sebastian had thrown up once and Gabrielle had already thrown up half a dozen times. So I wrapped up the sale early at 9:30am to take care of the kids. Paul and I did the divide and conquer thing. He took Gabby and I took Sebastian for the morning. Luckily my little guy didn't throw up anymore but has had a case of diarrhea. Now my girl threw up quite a bit Saturday. By the end of the day it subsided a bit. Sebastian went down to sleep like normal. Gabby slept with me in the master while Paul slept downstairs. She woke me up at 4:30am with another bout of nausea, then again at 5:30am, and again at 7:30am. Luckily that was the end of her nausea. Now she's just got no appetite and is kind of bad tempered. Sebastian still has diarrhea (only 3 diapers per day) but is drinking water like champ. He's been acting very clingy though -- I'm sure it's because he feels horrible. I hope he feels better tomorrow.

Wouldn't you know it? Yesterday, Sunday afternoon Paul tells me that he's not feeling well. Oy! About an hour before we get into bed he starts with the nausea. I ask him "are you sleeping upstairs or downstairs?" He doesn't answer me but when I hop into bed he's right behind me. I ask him if he needs an extra blanket. He's all "yeah that would be nice" So I get him another blanket. Not ten minutes later he's out of bed and heading for the bathroom. As he's walking he says to me "if you want to get any sleep you probably should sleep downstairs" WHAT? Me sleep downstairs? Why? He's the one who's going to up and down all night into the bathroom. Is he going to take care of Gabby when she gets sick in the middle of the night? I respond with a "well, when I was sick I slept downstairs so I wouldn't disturb anyone" So he headed downstairs. So he's still feeling ill but hasn't thrown up all day. He's actually been in bed (the guestroom) since we put the kids to bed at 8:15. He plans on going to work tomorrow. We'll see about that. I do hope he feels better but he can be SO selfish when he's feeling ill!

New Years? We NEVER celebrate it outside the house. Since we've lived here we've always spent a quiet evening at home. This year the kids were safely tucked in bed and we were in bed by 12:45am. We just watched videos! How boring is that? But it's tradition!

Anyway, that's it for now. Not much to say since we've been homebodies as of late. I'm sure I'll have more to say later when I've got more energy. Hope you all had a safe and happy New Year's celebration. Take care!
