September 17, 2003

Whew it was a mellow weekend, but a busy week so far. Lots of things have happened in the last three days, me wise. Okay here is a run down of the weekend and early week!

Friday night I went to a CM scrap booking workshop. I had had my first experience with CM only a day before. But I must admit I think I am hooked. LOL! I did three pages in four hours, and have one more started. I am currently working on an album of Alex’s first three years. I have stacks of photos that I haven’t done much of anything with and I really want to document it all before I forget what each picture is about. :O) Needless to say it is very fun. I have an Alex album to do, a Wedding Album, and I want to do a early ablum for us as a Family. So my big goal is to have my Alex album done by the New year, and hopefully our wedding album too!

Saturday, Casey had to teach so Alex and I stayed home all day. He drove me nuts! I really should have taken him to a park to burn off some energy, but I was just in a funky mood, so I suffered through the daytime with a VERY wound up Alex. That evening we ended up having an impromptu party for the Sugar/Oscar fight, we had 6 people over! Alex was a crazy child and ended up hitting his knee on the wall so bad that he now has a HUGE purple/red bruise. It looks like it really hurt. Poor guy. We grilled burgers and had baked beans and Caesar salads. Everyone brought something to eat and drink, so the only thing we were out was meat, buns, and baked beans. Which I had in the cabinets all ready!

Sunday we had a lazy day around the house. We were going to go to Disneyland since our passes expire on the 24th, but we really needed to do a Costco run and pick up some groceries. DH actually was okay with that. We usually spend every second of our weekends out and about, which really wears on me after a while. I am a homebody deep down. Anyways, we went to Costco and stocked up on canned goods that we were really low on and tons of VEGGIES! And a big flat of Pluots, yummers, for only 4 bucks, it was a great deal! Once we got home Alex took a nap, yeah, and we did too, double yeah! LOL! That night we had Chicken Taco nachos for dinner and watched the Billionaire show with Drew Carey, both DH and I were hooked. LOL! All in all it was a great weekend.

Okay now on to the stuff that is making my life interesting and the possible futures ahead of me. At work we are becoming a sinking ship, the company is not doing good, and honestly we are all looking to bail. Well I mentioned this to DH who said that his company is looking for someone part time that will eventually go full time. So I am most likely going to do that. But there are a couple things that make me nervous, I will be going part time and will have a pay cut in my hourly rate. I will be making 2/3 less then I am making now. BUT I will be able to work my Mary Kay business in that other part time which I really need to do to expand my business. I would also be working very closely with my husband, which will be very interesting. I don’t know how I will handle all that, but I just keep thinking to myself that I can adapt. And honestly it will probably be a good thing for us both to see how hard each of us works. I am just a bundle of nerves over this decision. Why I dunno I know that it will be good for us, and DH is very supportive of it. In fact he really wants me to take it. So I probably will because I will be able to go part time and will have more time for Alex and Mary Kay. Both of which need me right now. I would LOVE if I could stay at my current job till December, because then I could get 5 more big paychecks under my belt. I have been sitting on some bills, that I am now kicking myself for waiting on them. 5 more big paychecks will pay them mostly off. Here’s hoping that I can hang on here till then.

The crock-pot is now my best friend! I make BBQ pork yesterday in it while we were at work. Casey loved the BBQ and I plan on making more dishes in it. I have a great crock-pot cookbook that I will be searching through for the perfect recipes. :O) Anyone have any good recipes out there?

I have been reading the weather reports for the East Coast Hurricane, sending tons of safe keeping vibes to everyone out there. I have never been in a possible disaster like that. Sure we have earthquakes here in CA, but those just sneak up on you. I keep wondering what Hospitals do?! And what about people with special needs? I hope everyone comes out of this okay. What about Animal shelters, where do they take all the animals? Scary thoughts. I guess that this is proof that I need to make up a disaster recovery plan for our family. I would be lucky to get out with purse shoes, kidlet, Dh, and some picture albums. Anyone have any tips for this kind of preparation?

Flylady is slowly working her way into my life. I have been getting the emails for a couple months now and I must say that I am slowly being “Flywashed” I LOVE how my house is coming along, and that my laundry is all most always done. My kitchen stays fairly clean, and I don’t feel like my house is a complete disaster. What is really scary is that I am now noticing all the really bad piles of stuff, now that my basic household duties are pretty much done or managed. My desk is just a nightmare. Ugh. That will be a weekend tackling session. I really need a new desk! That would help a lot! But I guess I need to get a handle on the mess before I try and guess my needs.

Well that is it for now. I am going to try and post some pictures next time. Have a great week everyone and stay safe!
