Nicole's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

September 11, 2003

I need to list things that I am grateful for. I am having a very emotional day and need to get a handle on it by doing something productive, or else I will lose it with all the replays that are going on and all the images flashing through my mind.

I am grateful for…
My family. My Husband and son are the center of my world
My job, it might not be the perfect job but it pays our bills.
My body, it might not be how I want it to be, but it is healthy and strong.
My friends, especially on my moms list. Those ladies know me so well, it is amazing how friendships are formed when we have never met in person.
The country I live in. It is not perfect, it is ever changing and I am glad that I live in a country were it has the ability to change and that people can speak their minds with out fear.
I am grateful that I live in a country that allows women to be educated and work. Here in the USA most moms are wishing to be back at home, but in other countries women are wishing to be in the work place. Odd how that is different.
The food in my kitchen and in my grocery store. I am so glad that we have fresh foods and plenty of it.
Our savings, I am grateful that we have a nest egg and that my husband is diligent about adding to it even when I am not.
My son’s love. I love that mommy is still the women he is in love with. :O) I love that he is so loving and forgiving. He amazes me with his abilities and capacity to love.
My husband’s love and patience. He has walked this road with me and knows how I really am. He loves me beyond my faults, for that alone he is amazing.
My parents, they gave me life and have added to my son’s life in numerous ways.

I am grateful for the abilities and experiences that my five senses bring me.
Touch, I cannot imagine what it would feel like to lose all the sensations it brings, but if it ever does happen I will never forget the feel of my husband’s lips and the softness of my son’s hands.
Taste, it delights me in many ways, there is nothing like the sweetness of a fresh orange or the richness of chocolate mousse.
Sight, my eyes bring me everyday portraits that rival Monet. My vision is priceless, it enables me to see the delight on my son’s face when he sees a train. I can look upon my loved ones and hear what they are saying without their lips moving.
Sound, nothing is sweeter then the soft sounds a child makes while sleeping, or laughter that comes to you on a breeze, or the words that my husband utters quietly for only us to hear.
Smell, every mother knows the smell from a freshly bathed child’s hair, divine. Fresh bread, lavender, grass cuttings, vanilla, rain, the list goes on and on.

I am grateful that my thumb is turning green. LOL! My violets are blossoming, and my houseplants are thriving. Few things bring me more joy then to see a plant go from a sad little wisp of life to a full blossoming pot of green!
I am grateful that every morning the sun rises and every evening it sets. One thing will always be consistent in this world, on that I can count.
