Alex is a pistol! I swear that boy looks for trouble. I am amazed daily at how stubborn he is. This weekend I noticed that he can "mad dog" Daddy all most as well as daddy can "mad dog" him. Alex always looks away first, but he holds out for a long time! Daddy and Alex are two stubborn boys, and this stubborn mommy just tries to stay out of it. :O)

Alex is a non-stop question asker. Which I normally do not mind, but this weekend he added a new element to it, he asks a question, we answer, he says "NO!! That is a so and so" It is making me NUTTY!! I have been turning it around on him and calling whatever he is asking about into something else.
Alex: "Mommy what is that?" as we speed past something on the freeway.
Mommy: " Oh that is a monkey eating Popsicles"
Alex: "No it's not it is a dump truck!"
Mommy: "If you know what it is smarty pants why ask me?"
Alex: "Because I didn't know."

What is the deal with that?! Usually it is very entertaining and fun for a while, but I think we just spent too much time in the car this weekend. Heaven help if I need to take a road trip with Alex.

Our Weekend:

Saturday: Up at 6am courtesy of Alex bug. Had a batch of banana muffin, and deviled eggs done by 8am, can you tell that we had food to use before it went bad? :O) AND I also did four loads of Laundry! I was so excited about the darn laundry! I also cleaned out under the sink in the bathroom while Alex waged a pirate boat battle in the tub, and Hubby blissfully slept. I actually got all my laundry done and folded, now the task is to actually put it all away. That is on my list tonight. Later in the afternoon we went to a neighborhood block party. It was so much fun, there were bouncy houses, fire trucks (which Alex loved), a live band, food, and vendors from all over our area. We also went on a nature walk through a canyon in our neighborhood. They are trying to fill part of it in to make a bridge, which just breaks my heart, because it is so beautiful down there. We saw, hawks, barn owls, doves, King birds, lizards, fox pups, and a HUGE "wall" of Poison Oak, which Casey happens to be horribly allergic too. Needless to say we stayed on the far side of the trail after that. :O)

Sunday: We went to Disneyland with my parents, and pretty much had a fruitless day. We literally only did two things at the park, Tom Sawyers Island, they remolded all the caves and forts, and then Pirates of the Caribbean. We then walked over to the Rain Forest Cafe in Downtown Disney, had lunch and wrangled a very tired Alex. Since we have Dual Park passes we decided to head over to California Adventure to see if Alex is tall enough to go on Soaring over California, he is just a smidgen short. My dad is so excited for him to go on that ride that he is obsessed with it. LOL! Since we were all tired and crabby we decided to head home. On the way home, we picked up some steaks and had a light dinner at my parent’s house. We didn't stay too long, as we were all getting snippy with each other and Alex was exhausted, poor bug. We have learned the hard way that it is best to be home when we all get crabby, so off we went to a relaxing night at home and early to bed.

Alex's Eye: Well we got an appointment with a specialist in strabismus, on OCTOBER 3rd!! We were advised to keep a journal of how his eye reacts to lights, and if it turns in when he is tired. I will keep posting updates on it all. And keep calling the doctor's to see if there have been any cancellations. I really want to find out what is going on with it. I am worried about it as I have had a hard time dealing with mine, and actually was misdiagnosed. Grrr...

Alex wants to go home: This morning at pre-school Alex did not want me to leave. He has been very clingy lately, I can't figure out where it is coming from, nothing new has happened, no new teachers, etc. Every morning he asks to go back home, which makes me so sad because that is where I want us to be. My goal is to be at home by the end of the year. It is totally do-able if I just get busy with MK. I actually leave the house 15 minutes early so I can have some time at preschool to get Alex okay with me going to work. This morning was a hard one. :O(

A baby in the future for us?:

I have been in baby mode for months now. I really would love to have an addition to our family, but Casey is not as sold on the idea as I am. He is happy with just Alex, and I am not. I am an only child, and I hate being so alone. Casey has two siblings, so he says he hates the sibling issues. Another issue with it is that I do not want too much time to pass between Alex and Baby #2, if we were pregnant now we are looking at over a 4-year gap. :O(We need to get busy. :O) Is it selfish of me to want another one? We can afford it and I do think a second child would be a good thing for our family.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! You gals are the best at making someone at home. I am going to start posting my weekly senses which is an exercise for me to become more aware of the little things in life, something for each sense. Enjoy:

Weekly Senses:

Sight: Clean folded laundry waiting to be put away. Alex’s sad face in the morning. :O( A young hawk that has found a home in the tree outside my window.
Sound: Jewel CD, Alex’s midnight I love you’s, those are so sweet. The blinds flapping in the breeze.
Taste: Double Mint Gum, Apricot Pork Loin, gotta love my crock pot! :O)
Touch: Clothes with fabric softener, I even remembered that in my laundry duties! Alex’s sleepy warm body snuggled up with me this morning on the floor at pre-school.
Smell: My MK lotion, someone’s lunch cooking, I think it is chili.

That is all girls! Have a fabulous week!
