I had a great long weekend. It is amazing how much of a difference that one little day makes! Mike was supposed to be home on Friday night, but didn’t actually get home until midnight on Saturday. I was so disappointed! I had a great night planned for us on Friday filled with candlelight and see-through clothing! Oh well, his loss! :)
Maxwell has his first official cold. He sounds like a little Kermit the Frog! It is actually pretty cute. I kept him pretty doped up so he was quite tired all weekend. On Sunday I went out to pick up lunch and a movie and brought it home. After lunch I put Max down for his nap and Mike and I camped out on the couch and watched The Sum of All Fears. I miss those days so much! It is sad to say, but I bet it has been over a year since I actually took advantage of Maxwell’s nap time and vegged out! Normally I find something that NEEDS to be done instead! I am officially taking Saturday nap times for me from now on! I felt so rejuvinated! I can’t wait until next weekend!
After Maxwell woke up we headed out to Toy’s R Us for a new toy. This was really a trip more for me than for him. I get so sick of playing with the same thing over and over! I find getting something new every now and then helps me out too! Mike and Max headed down some different aisles looking for something fabulous. I stuck around the baby department reading some new books they had out. When they returned with two guns with a hulster I was a bit aprehensive. But Mike, being the hunter that he is, thought that this was a perfect toy. We headed out to my parents house for a visit and Maxwell was beaming! Just that morning he and Mike had watched some hunting shows on TV and now he felt just like one of them! When we got out to mom’s place my boys headed downstairs for a hunt! They had a blast. I was so relieved that Maxwell associated the guns to hunting rather than shooting a bad guy.
When we drove home that evening I had one of my favorite “Mommy Moments” yet. I walked around to the back door of the 4-Runner to take Maxwell out of his car seat. In that seat sat my blonde, sleeping little hunter. His evening filled with tiger hunts had completely worn him out. I struggled to get his straps off from around the hulster and then I just stood staring at him. What a boy. I can remember asking myself what I would do with a boy if I ever had one. Could I deal with the sports, guns, dirt, bugs, etc? But standing there that night I wondered what I would do without him. I have no memory of my life before Max. None of it matters and I love that.
Monday was baking day. I made 4 batches of Nut’s and Bolt’s (My FAVORITE part of Christmas) and 2 batches of Chocolate Chip Cookies. My good friend and her husband came over later with their new baby girl. It was so nice to have a little baby in the house. Maxwell absolutley loves her! He is so gentle and sweet with babies. Geez I need another one!
Speaking of babies, I found out on the weekend that one of the most socially unaware, screwed up women that I know is pregnant. It astounds me that you need a license to drive, you need a license to marry, hell you even need a license to fish, but having a child is a free for all!
Well I guess I will leave you on that positive note! I hope you all have a great week!
Love Nicole
Oh yeah! I almost forgot! We are getting Maxwell a puppy for Christmas. We are getting a Black Mouth Cur (Old Yeller) from Wisconcin. The only catch is that the airlines will only ship the puppy to –7C or 20F and it is pretty much that cold now! Keep you fingers crossed for a warm week before Christmas!!!!
