Nicole's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

April 29, 2003

We were all sitting in the family room looking out the window the other morning. Maxwell had the start of a very cute suntan as well as a full head of even blonder hair. Mike’s arms were completely sun burnt because he apparently just doesn’t believe in skin cancer and lives by the “Burns are Best” motto. I am still as white as ever due to my outdoor time consisting only of Red’s potty breaks and few pushes on the swing set. Yet as we all sat together looking out that window we weren’t thinking of suntans and swing sets instead we were faced with another blizzard. The snowflakes were huge and stuck to everything. I had to make the faithful walk down the hallway to turn our furnace on again and nearly cried as I pictured dollar bills rising from our heat vents. Will winter ever leave? Will I ever receive a gas bill that hovers below the $300 mark? Will Maxwell ever be able to shake his cabin fever? Spring where are you?

Now I wouldn’t want to start a battle on my board but I am going to make a very bold statement – I, without a doubt, have been blessed with the most wonderful little boy ever. Maxwell has entered a new stage in his life which I will affectionately refer to as “The Lover Butt Stage”. When he isn’t blowing me kisses from across the room his lips are firmly attached to mine. As we strolled through the grocery store one day this week I found it hard to put anything in my cart because this beautiful, blonde little boy had his arms firmly wrapped around my waist as he sat in the provided child seat. Last night as I read him his story he laid his head on my shoulder and listened intently. When the story was finished he planted one of his famous kisses on me and told me to have sweet dreams. Then as I closed his door he told me that he loved me and turned over and closed his eyes. I would never want to go too far and exaggerate but I SWEAR that for a split second I saw the warm glow of a halo resting above his head. I swear…really…

For those of you who haven’t read my update on my TTM Board my doctor appointment was bumped up last week. Everything went as I had anticipated. My final day of work will be May 9th (but luckily I work for a fabulous company who is going to continue to pay me until the end of May) and I can’t wait. Everyday is one day closer to not having to work. Maxwell is so excited! I wrote the date on a little calendar in his room and we cross off a day every night. I have been feeling progressively worse and so I think it is a good thing that I can just stay home soon. I am SO looking forward to waking up late, eating breakfast with Maxwell, playing, staying in my jammies, naps…I CAN’T WAIT! There was also some bad news at the appointment. My liver is worse. I asked if that was possible and apparently it is. So now we are just playing the waiting game. I am going to continue on steroid treatments and hopefully this little one will have another month or two to cook!

I am going to post a few new pictures on my board today from Easter. Please feel free to check those out!

Well that is pretty much all for this week. Next week I will update my “Toilet Paper Measurement” (see TTM for more info) and I would LOVE to hear all of yours!

Nicole

P.S. To Laura and Dwayne who said goodbye to little Mason this week. I am thinking of you.
