Ah, the sweet smells of spring. It is about darn time! I am such a happier person when I can wake up in the morning with the sun shining brightly on my face. I feel rejuvenated and ready to face the day. I love that feeling!
MOODY MAXWELL AND THE LINE
Max and I have had quite a week. I guess this has actually been a week in the making for the past few months…
Every morning as I pass my beautiful boy off to either my Mom or Mike’s Mom it is a battle. He doesn’t want me to leave. He wants Mommy to make breakfast and take off his coat. He wants Mommy to turn on a movie and tuck him in on the couch. To be honest I enjoy it when he needs and wants me but I also enjoy making it work on time one day a week! LOL! So I have tried to help him understand that I just don’t have time in the morning and he is slowly getting better.
Now in the evening when I get home from work it is another story. Every day he fights to stay at Grandma’s. He wants nothing to do with me. So on Tuesday I had had it! I used my best bribing and persuasion techniques to get him out of the house and into the car and all they got me was a screaming child who was trying desperately to shimmy his way under the couch. So after five 5-minute warnings I made my way over to haul him over my shoulder and carry him out. He managed a gold medal winning “limp pencil” move and slipped though my arms and back down into the basement. By this time my blood was boiling. I packed his bag and counted to 20. I put on my coat and headed downstairs to retrieve my ever-so-precious-son. I grabbed him from behind and carried him to the car kicking and screaming. It took me 6 minutes to get him buckled into his car seat and to close the door. 6 minutes. By this time I could see the line on the horizon. The one that most parents don’t cross. The line that divides good parents from bad parents. I could see it. I could feel myself getting closer to it and so I turned around. I stayed out of the car for a few minutes to breathe and calm down and slowly the line faded. I don’t anticipate Maxwell ever doing this again though. He did receive quite a talking too and spent the majority of the evening in time out. The next day he quickly said his goodbyes and nearly buckled himself into his seat.
5th COMPANY, 1st BATTALION
I found out that my good friend that is currently fighting our war is in the 5th Company, 1st Battalion is Basra. Boy does this make it more real. Now when I hear about all the fighting in Basra I wonder what he is doing. If he is ok. I put together a care package and sent it to him yesterday, complete with a picture from Maxwell, magazines, chocolate, candy and a letter. I hope it is the last one I have to send. I hope he is home, safe and sound soon.
GUS! MOM! GUS!
We were all sitting at the kitchen table eating a quick breakfast yesterday when all of a sudden Maxwell screams out “GUS MOM GUS!” I turned to see what the heck he was talking about and I saw a fat little mouse running across our kitchen floor! Now why Gus would come to his mind before mouse still has me a bit confused! Our kitchen is now stocked full with mousetraps ready to catch “Gus” next time he decides to pay us a visit.
DISQUALIFIED FROM THE OLYMPICS
Well I am officially taking an illegal substance. Ok, well not really, but it makes me feel dangerous! I am taking a five-day dose of steroids to try to get my liver to calm down a bit. I got an email from Lacey (Sister) yesterday and she asked me if she had to call me Mr. Jensen from now on. Har har…so funny. My appetite has increased AGAIN if you can believe it! So next month’s appointment could lead to even more weight gain! Ahhhhhhh!
RED
I woke up this morning at 2:30 to a familiar nibbling on my ear. Just as I was about to tell Mike to take a hike the nibbler licked me. I woke up to find a cute little red-dog anxiously awaiting the opening of my eyes. I asked him what was wrong and he instantly started whining. So I hauled my butt out of bed and took him for a mini walk. Oh boy, aren’t puppies fun?
Well that’s it for this week folks. I hope that you all have a fantabulous week filled with spring weather and perfectly behaved children! LOL!
