Nicole's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

March 14, 2003

There is something about the angelic stare of a sleeping two year old. I lay in bed beside my baby the other night after a scary monster dream and I couldn’t sleep. I stroked his soft hair and smelled his sweet skin. I wondered what wondrous thoughts were bouncing through his head. I hoped that they were of loving times and hopeful dreams. I felt his chest rise and fall and I matched his every breath. His long, black eye lashes fluttered and a smirk would periodically appear on his full lips. Then I felt a soft kick from inside that reminded me that our time alone is coming to an end. I felt a struggle between excitement and sadness. And then when I looked upon Maxwell again I felt simply blessed. If there is a possibility that I may have the opportunity to welcome a second child, amazing and unique, into this world what more could I ask for? Just then Mike woke up and turned over to find Maxwell beside him and he offered me a sleepy grin. He kissed Max’s forehead the then stroked my face and went back to sleep. I had everything I could ever need or want lying right there in bed with me.

Our ultrasound went as well as it could. I am having a perfectly, healthy little one who Mike SWEARS is a boy! We looked closely at the heart, which has 4 perfectly divided chambers. The spine has formed wonderfully and the brain looks great! I was surprised to find out that I am 1-centimeter dilated, but the tech assured me that having 3 babies in 2 ½ years can do that to a person! I feel so relieved. Now I am free to plan, shop and enjoy every second of the rest of this pregnancy!

ONTO OTHER NEWS OF THE WEEK!

*We had twins! The two cutest baby calves ever! Maxwell is in heaven! He has named them Blacky and Boy. Don’t ask…

*Yet another funny Max story. We went to pick up a movie the other night. Maxwell and I stayed in the truck and Mike ran in to pick one out. Maxwell asked where Daddy was going and I told him to get a movie. He turned around and looked at me with a puzzled look on his face. “To buy boobies?” Uh, no dear.

*There has been a noticeable change since Maxwell started wearing big boy underwear. The other morning as I was trying to get me, Max, and all of our stuff out of the house before 7:00am I picked Max up like I have done a million times before and flung him onto my hip. The difference? This time I heard a tiny yelp come from Max. I turned to see him pulling his body away from me. I asked what was wrong and he told me that I needed to be careful with his Willy. Duh! I guess I would huh? Give me a break! I grew up with two sisters! LOL!

*After some good advice from Jeanette and Dawn I contacted Graco again this time asking for a Supervisor. I pleaded my case again and she agreed that I deserved a full refund! The catch? I have to send my old stroller and infant seat back and pay for shipping. Hell, by the time I do that will I be any further ahead?

*I feel as though I may have touched a nerve as far as energy prices go! Thank you all so much for your responses! It appears that we are all is pretty rough shape…although it sounds like Stephanie is living in the right place! LOL! I hope for all of our sakes that the government steps in with some sort of help. Whether is be rebate cheques or price limits! I would just like to see SOMETHING done!

I was clueless about the Maternity Leave, or I guess lack of, in the States. We are very lucky here. We receive a full year off of work with our position guaranteed when we return. We get 55% of our gross wages from Unemployment Insurance, and lots of companies top that up for the full year. Boy, the States really need to jump on this bandwagon. We wonder why our world is falling apart.

This is kinda a kaffufule of information! I promise my next entry will make more sense! I hope that everyone has a great week!

I am off to try to figure out the new boards…
