January 1, 2001
When I got pregnant a couple years ago, a new world opened up to me: the communities of people gathering on the internet whether it be in chat rooms or on forums or through diaries and blogs. I started lurking on iParenting, reading about Jeanette's Bella, Julia's pregnancy, Heather's three spunky kids and over time many more diaries added to my daily list of sites to check for updates. I told myself I didn't have the time to keep one of my own, but as my reading list grew I knew I was fooling myself. By the time I finally started this diary, I had also added a few blogs to my list of daily reading, and I coveted the format but again told myself I surely didn't have time for anything like that.
After serious consideration, especially of the time commitment involved, I decided to start a free-floating blog in the internet universe. To be quite honest, I'm a little embarrassed about it mainly because I can't think of a good reason to justify it. Someone asked me why I want to keep my journal online, and all I could think in response was, "Uh...I don't know." I felt like a teenager. I guess I just need an outlet; whether it be conversational, creative, or just a desire to actually KEEP a journal going (I'm really bad with the paper kind).
I feel very fortunate to have found this community, and I hope that you will visit me at my new internet home where I plan to write about Ella, ramble about life's tedium, complain about my husband's speaker fetish, post pictures and videos, chronicle some of my knitting projects, whip up some recipes and write about the endless stream of movies I obsessively rent. I'd love to hear from you and keep in touch.

Thank you for welcoming me into the world of internet communities. I fear I may never leave. I know, for certain, that I will read, lurk and post on iParenting for years to come.
