Wallowing, Revisited
So, I wrote my whole long entry about how I felt bad, etc., etc.
Then today I went and walked in the Race for the Cure.
At the race, all the surivors have pink shirts, and the rest of ours are white - so it's real easy to tell who's who.
This year I noticed how many YOUNG women were wearing pink shirts - even a couple of pregnant young women.
Not to mention the people who walked with 'In Memory Of' signs on their backs, while I was fortunate to walk with an 'In Celebration Of' sign (meaning that my mother and grandmother are survivors).
Nothing pulls you out of a self-centered funk like a little perpective. Seriously, if I would have walked up to any of those women with my complaints, would it even compare to surgery, radiation, chemo, fear of recurrence?
I'll admit there's still a bit of a tendancy to wallow...but it's not consuming anymore. Hopefully me writing this down here will serve as a better reminder to myself when my mind goes there again...
God Bless,
Laura & Sweet Katie
