Who needs sleep???

Apparently not my daughter! We went through a couple of rough nights around here that made me realize just how very spoiled I am with a daughter who (normally) sleeps well! It also always seems to happen when Chris is out of town and I am on night patrol by myself. Go figure! On Sunday, Chris went to see his grandparents and uncle, to do a little fishing and help his grandpa out with some work. Katie went down at her usual time, and I'd noticed she was coughing a bit (an itchy throat kind of cough) and that she had a runny nose. It seemed to be allergies, and I had no benedryl or anything for it, so there wasn't much I could do. On Sunday night, Katie was awake and screaming form about midnight until 1:30 or so. She screamed when I held her, screamed when I rocked her, when I swayed w/her, when I put her down...she was completely inconsolable. When she finally did go down, I was able to fall asleep for about an hour before a huge thunderstorm hit, waking me up again (and causing my mind to go in a million directions...where is the flashlight in case we lose power? It sounds awfully windy out there...etc). I fell asleep again and was woken up at 6:00 by my little screaming mimi, and she didn't want to be put down AT ALL, so I didn't even get to start getting ready for school until my MIL came over at 7 to watch her. The afternoon wasn't much better - I came home with Benedryl so at least that helped, but again Katie was just not her happy self. Monday night she kept waking up, and when Chris got home at 11:30 I was about to get up with her again, but he took over. What a sweet guy - he turned off the monitor and closed the bedroom door so I could get sleep while he slept on the couch and got up with Katie. She went to sleep at about 1:30 that night, and slept until it was time to take her to my mom's house.

Luckily, last night Katie was back to her regular schedule, and we were ALL much happier today! I still haven't slept much because I had to do grades, so last night I stayed up late doing all the grading I wasn't able to do the two nights before. Fun.

At Katie's 15 month appt., she weighed 25.5 lbs, and was 32.5 in. long. She's a nice big girl! It's funny, though - all her height is from the waist up. She is still wearing 18 mos. pants, but is now wearing more 24 mos. shirts to cover her long torso!

We're having a lot of fun with this stage that Katie is in right now. She's just so interactive. She walks right up to us and puts a book or toy in our hands, or climbs up on our laps, or presses a toy that plays music and looks at us to sing - then claps afterwards! It's really fun!

School will be out in TWO WEEKS - not that I'm excited or anything - LOL! I'm also pretty excited for the long holiday weekend coming up. There will be lots of relaxing and spending time at my parents' cottage, so Katie will get to swim in the pool, which she really enjoys. She's been having a GREAT time at her aqua infants class, which ends next week. She is now really comfortable floating on her back w/one of us, and jumps in at the count of 3. We're still working on the triple backflip, but I guess she'll just master that in the next class (ha ha)!

Oh, and last but most certainly not least, a HUGE congratulations to Linda and Andrew on the birth of their beautiful baby girls! If you haven't read about them, check out her PT diary! I couldn't think of a woman more cut out to be a mother, and more able to handle twins, than Linda.

That's all from here. I hope everyone who's been hit by all the rain has a chance to dry out - especially those who've had flooding issues. Take care!
