I posted this on a message board and then decided it needed to be an entry...don't get me riled up with those pregnancy hormones!
(b)Stupid Pregnancy Comments I Heard This Weekeend(/b)
...and let me preface this by saying that all but one were made by MEN (and all on Sat/Sun)! And then there are my thoughts in paranthesis, that, during an "Ally McBeal" moment I might have actually said, but didn't.
"Gee, you look ripe!" (SLAP!)
"When are you going to have the baby? Seems like you've been pregnant FOREVER!" (Yes, it's a little known fact that I'm actually an elephant, so I'm only halfway there!)
"Wow, I think you've gotten bigger since you got here!" (darn, shouldn't have eaten that brownie!) - only comment made by a woman.
"Oh boy, you're just ready to POP, aren't you?" (Well, yes, I think I might just go into labor here and now - wanna catch?)
It's all well-meaning enough, I realize (well, I have a hard time understanding how the "ripe" comment could EVER be), but it's enough to make me want to stay home for the next month! Whatever happened to men just keeping their mouths shut about the appearance of a woman who is NOT their wife?!
And no, none of these comments were made by DH, or my father, or (for once) my FIL. Although hubby did look at me Saturday when I was standing in the bathroom naked and start giggling, and said, "Look how big your belly has gotten!" (thanks for not mentioning my hiney, honey), and I cried. Think I'm just a little hormonal?!
On the bright side, I have a snow day today!
TTM: What's the worst thing someone has said to you (or another hugely pregnant woman you know)? What do you think is the BEST thing to say to a hugely pregnant woman about her size/belly?
