My Sweet Girl,

It’s so hard to believe you’ve already been in our lives for two whole years. In some ways it seems like just yesterday when we were meeting you for the first time, and yet we only vaguely remember what life was like before you were born.

You are the light and life in our house. Your father and I love nothing more than to listen to you sing, talk, and squeal, and to watch you flit from one activity to the next, never slowing down. You continually amaze us with what you know and how quickly you learn. What did we do to end up with such a bright and inquisitive child? Nothing that we can think of. God must have just known that we needed someone like you in our lives to keep us on our toes!

At two, you definitely have your opinions, and many of them change by the day.

Your current favorites are: music (your “Beethoven’s Wig” and Veggie Tales cds are your favorites); songs that Daddy makes up; songs you learn from your Nana or Grandma, or from Sunday school; books of all kinds (especially Clifford books or books that rhyme); magnets (which you currently call ‘maggots’- it always makes us laugh); ANYTHING Sesame Street or Elmo; your stuffed Snoopy; Daddy’s old stuffed dog, ‘Wee’; learning new words; dancing; swimming; bath time; your grandparents; your friends; and your teachers at church.

Your least favorite things include: vegetables of any kind (unless they’re in alphabet soup); certain songs (“Yellow Rose of Texas” and “Jimmy Crack Corn” are two that make you cry - we’ve never figured out the reason); waiting for anything or being asked to be patient, especially when there is food involved; getting out of the pool or bath before you are ready to be done (even if you’re shivering).

You’ve accomplished many milestones this year. Just before your first birthday, you started walking. Since then, you’ve turned into a running, jumping, playing machine! There are so many little and big things that you can do now, that you were not able to do before. You are able to color, draw with your magna doodle, and identify letters and numbers. Recently, you’ve even started counting objects and reading letters in words from left to right. You’ve learned to express yourself by telling us what you want, even though you sometimes become frustrated and scream. You are learning to use the toilet and are so excited when you go. You’ve recently moved into your ‘big girl’ room and are now sleeping in your own twin bed now.

Another important milestone is that you will soon become a big sister. We are so excited for you because we know that you will be wonderful with your brother and will love him the way you love us. We can’t wait to see how he will look up to you and want to do all the wonderful things that you are doing.

Your father and I love you so very much, and we always will, no matter what, and we are so excited to see what the coming years bring.

All of My Love,
Mommy
