Laura's Diary Entries

Another year starting...how is it that they seem to bo by faster and faster the older we get?

We are doing well here. In fact, I really have no room to complain, especially in a world where so many lives have been lost and so much devestation caused by the tsunamis earlier this week. It's just horrible, and I find myself without the right words to even say about it - except GIVE. Give to the Red Cross, or whatever trusted organization you know of that is providing aide. Give, give, give.

We had a nice holiday. We did not do much traveling, except to all the relatives' houses for various holiday gatherings. We had quite a few Christmas celebrations this year, which has left me feeling a little Christmassed out. Not that I minded spending hte time with family, but it felt like our entire time off was spent going here and there. Katie was a peach through all of it - in a happy mood every time we took her out, and she's really warmed up to her great-grandparents and other extended family that she doesn't see as often. Otherwise, we've all been hanging out at home quite a bit and enjoying the toddler antics.

Santa was good to all of us. Katie is on Elmo-overload. We got her the silly faces Elmo, she got a potty Elmo from one set of great-grands, and the dancing Elmo from another, and also a bathtub one. Besides that, she got a lot of educational toys, books, videos (she is in LOVE with the Dr. Suess book videos), etc. She is enjoying her Leapfrog refrigerator phonics magnets, especially, as well as her magna doodle. Mom and Dad are *really* enjoying drawing anything that pops into her mind, as well (ha ha!). She'll ask us to draw anything from an apple to, "You draw tell me how to get to Sesame Street?" Suffice it to say she does not yet grasp the concept of concrete vs. abstract!

I am feeling good. Baby is busy, and we are busy getting ready for him. K is moving into a new room and we are keeping the nursery as is. So, we've been painting and getting things cleared out and moved around to get that room ready. I had wanted her in by New Year's, but that hasn't happened. I plan on getting her in by the middle of this month so she'll have lots of time to adjust before her brother comes along and it feels like he's taken away her room.

Not much more from here. My enbtries seem to be getting shorter and farther apart - don't know if that means I'm actually winding down after all this time of diary-writing, but it just doesn't feel the same anymore. We'll see.

Wishing a blessed and happy new year to you all.
