Austin 4 days old
The boys are exactly 20 months apart since they were both born on the 11th :)

Hello Ladies~

Austin is home now and we are all doing as well as could be expected. We havent gotten much rest at all in the last several days and I am still in alot of pain from the surgery. Nathan hasnt been jealous so far, pretty curious about Austin and has touched his toes and fingers while smiling. We are tired but very blessed to have Austin home with us. We have never been happier in life or felt more blessed!!

While in the hospital we did find out that Austin was born with a medical condition. He has been diagnosed with Hypospadias. Basically the urethra ( hole where urine comes out of penis ) isnt exactly where it should be. This is actually a very common condition among male infants. About one out of every 300 male infants are born with it. Parents usually dont talk about it because of the sensitivity of the area and because it is easily treatable and the child will never know they had the condition. Other than this condition we are very blessed that Austin is perfectly healthy. Both of his Apgar scores were 9, which is basically the highest you can get because they dont ever give 10's I believe. Because of his condition they arent able to circumcise him just yet. Around 8-12 months he will have to have corrective surgery and at that time he will be circumcised.

Unfortunately, he will have to be put under general anesthesia for this surgery, that is the scariest part of it. We were emotional when we were first told about this condition but we know we are very lucky that it is something very correctable and its actually very common. Luckily, Austin has a very mild form of this condition and most people wouldn't even notice the problem. There are other levels of the condition that are more severe. We are very fortunate that he is otherwise very healthy. If you are interested in reading more about the condition here is a great article on it - http://cpmcnet.columbia.edu/dept/urology/pediatric/hypospadias.html
