Austin EDD Dec 17, 2003
36 weeks down and only 3 weeks to go!!
I can't believe three weeks from today I will be holding my sweet Austin David in my arms! I am so excited, anxious, and scared all at the same time! A few days ago, it seemed like it was going to take forever to get here but now the days are flying by and I am realizing all that needs to be done. We are getting all his clothes washed up, I am trying to get caught up on writing on all of Nathan's pictures and getting them in our album, trying to get Nathan’s baby book done before Austin gets here, and we are also trying to dub all our mini videotapes from our camcorder onto normal VHS tapes. We have at least 6-7 hours worth of footage of Nathan from birth to record. Last night we dubbed the tape from Nathan’s birth to about 2 months old. I cried like a baby watching Nathan as an infant. In some ways it seems like just yesterday that he was a baby and in other ways it seems like years ago. I miss Nathan as a baby, especially after watching last nights videotape. It’s funny how you forget all the cute and innocent mannerisms that babies have. It was so wonderful to see his baby angel face again! I am looking forward to seeing the rest as we dub them.
I had my pre-admit appt yesterday at the hospital. It was so crazy to be back there again. The last 19 months have truly flown by. This particular hospital puts all the babies’ footprints on the walls with their names next to it; you can bet I was on the hunt for Nathan’s footprint. It took awhile but I finally found it! It brought back so many memories for me. The nurse said there may be enough room next to Nathan’s to put Austin’s footprint. My appt was mainly paperwork and the normal questions, it definitely made it seem more realistic that in 3 weeks I will be giving birth.
My baby shower was this past weekend on the 22nd. We drove up in the morning and came home that night. Although it was a long day of driving it would have been an even harder time if we tried spending the night with Nathan. As you may recall from our previous traveling times, Nathan only sleeps about 3-4 hrs a night in his play yard, he really misses his crib when we aren’t at home. We got a lot of nice things that we needed but it didn’t have the same feeling of excitement in the air. It seems like people in general aren’t as excited about 2nd babies as they are about 1st babies. It kinda disappointed me because for us Austin is just as special as Nathan. I wanted to have a special day of celebrating Austin’s upcoming arrival just as we had with Nathan. It was a nice and intimate shower with only 10 people there. We did have everyone write special messages to Austin in a journal just as we did at Nathan’s shower.
It is so hard to believe that Thanksgiving Day is tomorrow! As I have mentioned in previous entries we are staying home this year since I am so close to having a baby and we recently saw both our families. Not to mention the fact we have sooooo much to get done before Austin comes. We are hoping to get our Christmas tree up this weekend and maybe even wrap a few presents. I hope my days aren’t filled with telling Nathan “no” a million times about taking stuff off of the tree. We are having turkey, corn on the cob, crescents, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce, apple pie, stuffing, and probably a few other things but that’s all I can remember right now. With it being just us and Nathan we will have tons of leftovers but we wanted to still have a good meal even if this year we aren’t seeing our families at Thanksgiving. I have so much to be grateful for this year. I have my wonderful husband who is truly my best friend and soul mate. I have my beautiful and special son Nathan who is the light of my life. And I have another beautiful son on the way, I can’t believe in 3 weeks I will be holding Austin for the first time. I truly feel like I am in a dream world having these three boys in my life! I am also grateful for both our families and our close friends. I am also very grateful to be a part of this community. I am so grateful for the opportunity to keep a diary but even more grateful to have made the friends that I have since becoming a part of iParenting.
Well I am going to keep it short this week since I have so much to get done. I hope you all have a happy, healthy, and safe holiday! Would love to hear from you all!
God Bless~
Kelly, Nathan, and Austin :)
