Mommy and Nathan’s Favorite Things.....

Mommy’s Favorite Things

Food – Mexican and Chinese, especially chicken dishes. My two huge weaknesses are pizza and ice cream UGH!

Movies – Pay it Forward, I am Sam, The Other Sister, Bridges over Madison County, Titanic, Remembering the Titans, Hurricane Carter

TV Shows – Oprah Show, Reality Shows (UGH!), ER, Friends, Boston Public, Third Watch, Wedding Story, Baby Story, and Trading Spaces all on TLC and probably many more but I am spacing out right now!

Hobbies – writing, reading, photography, walking, being online, tennis, being with family

Books – The Gift and Heartbeat by Danielle Steel, Iyanla Vanzant books, books
recommended by Oprah usually, many self help books, and many spirituality books

Season – Fall :)

Color – Green ~ everyone that knows me knows that green has always been my fave color. Followed by certain shades of purple and yellow :) Those three colors were in my
wedding

Holiday – Christmas

Magazines – O magazine (Oprah), Parenting, Parents, Glamour, People and many more :)

Phrase - “All things are possible with God!”

Drink – Diet Pepsi, Ice Water, and Margaritas when I can have them :)

Music – Top 40 and country

Number – 12 (read my intro and you will know why) :):)

Nathan’s Favorite Things

Food – Butterball Lean Turkey Sausage cut up in bite size pieces, grilled cheese sandwiches, toast with apple butter, Danimals yogurt, cheese of any kind – especially mozzarella string cheese or Kraft sandwich cheese, Nutrigrain bars, Kraft mac and cheese, baked chicken nuggets, spaghetti, lasagna, applesauce sometimes. Notice the lack of fruit and veggies? UGH! He loves most meat and dairy products but doesn’t like fruit and veggies hardly at all.

Movies - He loves his Elmo’s World Movies the best. He also enjoys his Blue’s Clues movies.

TV shows – His favorite TV show is by far Sesame Street, especially the Elmo’s World segment and Journey to Ernie. He also enjoys Blue’s Clues, Animal Jam and High 5 on TLC, Arthur, Little Bill, and Dragon Tales.

Hobbies – He loves to play with his trucks and read his books. He also enjoys running around the kitchen table really fast. He enjoys taking walks in his stroller with mommy and daddy. He loves to draw with us on his Fischer Price Art Canvas. He is really into stickers right now. The only problem is that if he gets one, he wants them all at once so they don’t last too long in the house :) He also LOVES to bring us books and he points to things and says, “What is this?” or “What is it?” He also LOVES to bring us some of his fave books, like his Sesame Street book and Baby words book, and LOVES to be asked “Where is such and such?” He LOVES to point to the picture we ask for. He is sooooo amazing. I can’t believe at 17 months he can point to so many objects that we ask for. He really loves his books! Hopefully he will take after mommy and daddy with our love of reading, especially daddy. He loves to chase Daisy, our cat, and give her love. Nathan has a fondness for junk mail. Glad someone does in our house :) He has been carrying around off and on an advertisement for a car lot. It has a lot of trucks on it and we lovingly refer to it as his “truck paper.” He has had it literally for a month at least. It is just now getting torn in pieces. You should see how wrinkled it is – soooo funny!

Books – He LOVES all his books, but especially his Sesame Street book with all the characters in it. He also loves his books with trucks and animals. All his baby word books with pictures – he loves a lot too!

Season – all of them :)

Color – I bet he loves the color red since ELMO is red!

Holiday – once again all of them :):)

Magazines – he pretty much likes all magazines. In a few weeks he should be receiving his first issue of Sesame Street magazine, I think he will love that magazine!

Phrase – “What is this or what is that or what is it?”

Drink – Whole Milk and V8 splash juice. I give him that so he gets his vitamin’s A and C – since he doesn’t eat fruit and veggies very well.

Music – He loves the intro music to Sesame Street, intro to Elmo’s World, Blues Clues music when its mail time or letter time, Trading Spaces on TLC music, the music with Arthur and Dragon Tales and last but not least he loves the music to TLC shows Wedding Story and Baby Story. It is funny, if he hears that music; he will stop what he’s doing, and run to the TV to hear that music. Its sooooo funny and cute! He has loved the music to those two shows since he was a baby! So sweet! If he is crying when it comes on, it actually usually helps him calm down :)

This past weekend and this weeks happenings~

Kevin is out of town this week for work – UGH! I need a break already! I can’t imagine how single moms do it! I sure hope they have family and friends around, unlike us. Usually it is more the loneliness that bothers me rather than the workload.

This past weekend we went to Quincy again. I got to see my mom, dad, brother, grandma and aunt a lot! This is the same Grandma I have talked about in past entries. On the 25th she turned a young 77 years old. She says she is actually only 39 – I love her personality! We took her over a cake on Saturday and she opened up her presents. She received a lot of flowers for her birthday which is so great! She also got some nightclothes, a nice Grandma frame from my brother, and I got her a beautiful angel figurine. Both of us love to collect angels :) How could I forget? My grandma and aunt made us a wonderful meal for lunch on Saturday. Good old homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, fried ham, homemade biscuits, and great veggies! It was so good and filling! I definitely ate for two that day! LOL!

Unfortunately, because of Kevin’s darn job we had to cut short our trip. We were only there from Friday afternoon until Saturday night. Kevin had to leave for Kentucky on Sunday morning. We didn’t find out that change until the night before we left for Quincy. I was so mad that his work changed our plans once again. It never fails, if we plan something you can bet his work will screw it up! We almost didn’t even go to Quincy since we found out how short of a visit it would be but we knew this would be the only chance to go until the end of November and I didn’t want to go that long without seeing family, especially my grandma! It was great seeing her for her birthday! I love her so much! By the way, our portable DVD player worked out great. If you can stand 2-3 hrs of Elmo! He isn’t interested in Disney movies quite yet. The only problem is that with the DVD player, he didn’t take any naps in the car, too busy watching Elmo. They were much needed naps too. Next time, the DVD player will be off some so he naps. We will just have to deal with his anger that it is turned off because he needs his naps still while traveling. Otherwise he is way too tired once we arrive somewhere and can’t enjoy himself.

At my last OB appt I mentioned to my doctor that I had some bloody tissue in my stool and told him about my family’s colon cancer history. My aunt was diagnosed with colon cancer in her mid thirties and my mom and grandma both have had precancerous polyps removed. My great aunt died of colon cancer. Needless to say, I am really scared. Of course it could just be hemorrhoids or something, since those are common in pregnancy but I haven’t had many more odd symptoms. Everyone assumes that colon cancer is only an older person’s disease but I know better. You only have to hear about one young person dieing of colon cancer to be scared if you have family history like I do. My OB doctor said the chances of me actually having something worse than hemorrhoids are so small but since I have the family history, he wouldn’t just disregard it. He told me to let him know if I noticed anything else. Recently on one or two occasions I have noticed a red tint to my stool so I have decided to go into my regular family doctor to have him refer me to a specialist of the colon. I am really scared but everyday I am consumed by my family history. Literally every time I see or hear anything about colon cancer or anything, I wonder if it’s a sign or something that I better go see a doctor. It is really awful to be so consumed by a medical problem and a fear that you will die young and not see your children grow up. I have a doctor appt on Friday, October 3rd; I am sure nothing will happen there; hopefully he will go ahead and refer me to a specialist. If I had my way, I would get a colonoscopy done right now but I am sure they can’t do that procedure while I am pregnant. I can’t live in fear anymore with this. I just can’t.

On to a happier subject I have an appt to get my hair cut on Oct 7th. It is getting way too long and I need my layers cut some. I will probably get it cut again right before Austin joins our family so my hair isn’t in my way a lot.

I have a lot of TTM questions this week! Please give me advice – it is much needed!

~ Nathan hates getting his teeth brushed, I feel like we don’t get them clean at all – any advice? Any other toddlers out there like that?
~ Any advice on getting him to eat fruits and veggies? It is crazy and I worry about it all the time!
~ I guess Nathan got used to wearing shorts all the time in the summer and now it is a major battle to get jeans on him. Any advice? Any other toddlers like that?
~ Nathan at almost 18 months still doesn’t really use a fork or spoon. He is interested in them some what but would rather use his fingers. If I try to help him, he gets mad. He is sooooo independent! Help me! He is getting way tooooooo old for this! If anything he is better with a fork than a spoon.
~ Any ideas for a Halloween costume for a 17 ½ month old? He probably won’t wear any hats or masks; he has never been a hat kid unfortunately.
~ Anybody out there who’s had hemorrhoids? What were your symptoms?
~ What are some of your family’s favorite things?

Thanks for reading! TTM Please! Sorry no time to proof read!

God Bless~
