ZOO TIME....

On Saturday Kevin, Nathan, and I went to the St Louis Zoo for some good ol' fun family time. The weather was so perfect! The high was only 82 degrees I believe. I was pretty nervous about going because my lower back has been really hurting me lately. Just doing dishes for a few minutes kills my back. And every time Kevin and I take Nathan for a walk, I end up in so much pain just after a few blocks. I wasn't sure how I was going to walk around for hours on end. But I did it! I had my painful moments but hardly needed to sit down much after all. It was so much fun! I think it did me some good to get out of the house and have fun with Kevin and Nathan, especially considering my last two not so positive entries.

The first and last time we went to the zoo was in June when my Grandma was able to go with us; I sure wish she could have been with us again this time. One of the first things we did was take Nathan to the Children's Zoo. He loved getting up close and personal with the goats! He was a little bit timid at first, he even wanted daddy to hold him for a minute so he could get used to it. Once he was held for a minute he wanted daddy to put him down so he could investigate the hairy things himself. It was so funny; Nathan kept on saying, "Meow!" He thought they were like kittens I guess, with the hair and all. A few of them tried getting into Kevin's back pocket, it was so funny! You should have seen Nathan's face while he was in there.

After seeing the goats, we decided to take Nathan to his favorite exhibit - the penguins! He can't get enough of them! It is a great exhibit, you actually get splashed by them and you get so close to them. You would have thought we were tinkling Nathan the entire time we were in there seeing the penguins, by the way he was giggling and laughing at the penguins. It was so sweet and priceless! We took a ton of pictures of him with the penguins! After the penguins we decided to take Nathan on his first train ride at the zoo. Let's just say he loved the train when it was going but he got soooooo mad when we stopped at the different train stations. He screamed bloody murder until we got going again. We were pretty much stuck on it with him crying. Poor little guy! The train stressed mommy and daddy out! After the train ride we decided to try the carousel ride since it was so close by. Let's just say it was a lot like the train ride. Nathan didn't like the fact that he had to wait quite awhile for the ride to fill in and for them to do their safety checks. Poor daddy was trying to hold Nathan still while he screamed and cried. As soon as it started up, he was all better :)

We saw the elephants, monkeys, and some guinea pigs that Nathan said, "Meow" to :) Before we left the zoo we did a repeat visit to the penguin exhibit since it was Nathan's favorite. It was so funny, while we were in line to see the penguins again, Nathan grabbed the tag that was on the lady's back pocket in front of us. She thought it was hilarious! What can we say? Nathan is a MAJOR TAG MAN!!! LOL! Bless the innocence of children huh? All in all it was a great day. We ended up being there about 5 hours. We definitely wore Nathan out, as soon as we got back into the van, he took a much needed nap. Nathan definitely wore mommy and daddy out as well! I was a zombie and so lazy all day on Sunday, I guess being pregnant really did me in after all:)

We have new pictures on our family website. Would love for you to check it out! Here is our website address http://web.infoave.net/~kelkev12/
