Kelly's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

August 30, 2004

My blue eyed boy will be turning 9 months old soon. It doesn't seem possible that he will be turning 1 in a few months. The days are definetly long as a stay at home mom but the months and years are short. It seems like only yesterday when my dear friend Jen of Toddlers Today made Austin a birth announcement website for us. Austin is truly a happy and sweet baby. He absolutely loves his big brother Nathan to pieces. He would rather watch him or play with him any day over mom or dad. He loves to follow him around. He loves to play with Nathan. They enjoy playing their own little versions of peek a boo and hide and go seek. It is so cute to see them together. I really think they are going to love being brothers. Of course I know they will have their share of fights and all, but that's to be expected. I can't believe he is already crawling and pulling himself up into a standing position. It won't be long before he is walking and then running after Nathan everywhere.

Austin LOVES anything he isn't supposed to have. He loves stickers, papers, crayons, matchbox cars, cords - you get the idea. He doesn't seem to like his "baby toys". He sure keeps momma busy during the day. But I know before too much longer he will be a busy toddler so I am trying to take it one day at a time.

He loves to hold things. I LOVE it when he turns his wrists and looks at things. He is always in such deep thought. He loves to be tickled under his armpits and on his sides. He loves to take baths with Nathan. He loves anything regarding Elmo. He loves our Baby Einstein tapes and DVDs. He looks just like me and my mom as babies. He has the sweetest smile imaginable. His eyes are so blue. We are all wondering if his eyes will stay the color blue or not. My eyes are green and Kevin and Nathan both have brown eyes. My mom is the one with blue eyes and every time I look at Austin, I see my mom as a baby. He completely melts my heart.

He loves his baby cereal. For some reason he doesn't seem to like baby fruit (is that weird or what?) - he only likes it if it's mixed in his baby cereal. He loves all the orange veggies and used to like the green ones. He decided recently that he doesn't like peas or green beans anymore.

He still isn't sleeping through the night on a regular basis. Once in a GREAT while he sleeps through. I can't imagine having a baby who sleeps through the night in the first few months. Sleep deprivation can really get to ya in a hurry.

He is pretty much a laid back type of baby, I guess you almost have to be when you are the second baby because there is another child who is seeking momma's attention. He is a wonderful addition to our family. I don't remember what life was like before him. I love being a boy mommy.
