There is Nothing Sweeter than………
There are so many things that my sweet Nathan does on a daily basis that simply amazes me and melts my heart each and every time he does them. I wanted to share some of them with you all and even more importantly wanted to document them so Nathan and I can look back on this entry and read all about his sweet toddler days.
There is Nothing Sweeter than…………
~Smelling Nathan’s hair and feeling his skin after a bedtime “rubber ducky bath”
~Seeing the pure joy and happiness on Nathan’s face when he sees Elmo on TV
~Getting a kiss or hug totally out of the blue from Nathan
~Hearing him laugh when mommy or daddy chase him around the kitchen table
~When we ask Nathan where his belly is and he proudly shows us his belly button. He is so sweet and innocent that he truly thinks only his belly button is his belly.
~When Nathan gives our 5 yr old kitty, Daisy, a hug and kiss. Bless his heart, he tries to be gentle with her but sometimes he is a little too rough. He loves to lay his head on her body.
~Seeing the excitement on Nathan’s face when he hears the word “outside.”
~When Nathan is laughing so hard that we actually hear a laugh that we have never heard before.
~How much Nathan loves his books, trucks, and anything and everything Elmo.
~When Nathan comes and sits on our laps totally out of the blue – just because he wants to be with us
~How Nathan reacts to hearing that Elmo is coming on TV. He goes running through the house, saying “ELDO!!!!” He runs as fast as he can to the TV.
~How excited Nathan gets when family comes down to see us.
~Reading to Nathan while he sits on our laps
~Seeing Nathan dance to music he hears on TV. One of his favorite selections is the music before, during, and after TLC’s show “Trading Spaces.”
~How happy Nathan is when daddy comes home from work. If daddy has to use the restroom when he walks in the door, he pretty much knows he has to have Nathan with him.
~When Nathan does something he is proud of and he looks at mommy or daddy with the biggest smile and biggest look of achievement on his face. It simply melts our hearts! Of course when this happens we really give him a reaction like clapping our hands, exclaiming how smart he is or what a big boy he is, or throwing our arms up like they do in football games when a touchdown is scored. Sometimes Nathan even does the touchdown thing on his own when he is proud, I guess we have done it enough that he has learned it. An example of when Nathan is really proud of himself is when Nathan stacks blocks or really pretty much anything that will stack and when Nathan pushes a button on a toy to make it work
~When Nathan is watching an Elmo tape or Elmo on “Sesame Street” and he is so happy that he is watching it that he turns around and looks at mommy as if to tell me “Thank you mommy, you are best, I love Elmo!”
~Knowing mommy will always be one of the most important women in his life
~How excited Nathan gets when we ask him if he wants to go “upstairs” This is where his room is and it’s usually before naps, bath time, and bed time. He loves to climb our stairs, with mommy or daddy right behind him of course. He is always so proud when he reaches the top.
~Seeing Nathan’s beautiful face and knowing he is a part of mommy and daddy’s love for one another
~Knowing how much Nathan loves his daddy!
~Knowing mommy and daddy are Nathan’s heroes right now and hopefully always!
~When Nathan wants to share his food or drink with mommy and daddy
~When mommy looks into Nathan’s eyes and sees all the beautiful things in life
~Hearing Nathan’s first words. Some of the words he currently likes to say are: daddy, mom or mommy, meow, duck, Eldo for Elmo, Autin for Austin, what is it, all gone, and all done.
~Watching how happy Nathan makes daddy - I could literally cry right now just thinking about it
~Asking Nathan to say his soon to be little brothers name - Austin. He tries so hard to say it. It is so cute, he says “Autin” leaving the s sound out of it
~Knowing in a few months, God willing, we will have another little boy who will equally melt our hearts! I can’t even imagine having two little boys!
~ I love you Nathan and Austin with all my heart and soul! Thank you Nathan for all the joy and love you bring mommy and daddy! I can’t wait to meet you Austin and hold you for the first time! I love you so much already!
I am sure I have left off some of my favorites and I couldn’t possibly ever list them all.
Please excuse any grammar mistakes; I was purely writing with my heart and not my brain :)
** TTM – What are some of the things that your children do that melt your hearts? I would love to hear from you all! Now on to what we are up to this week.......
This Weeks Happenings ~
This week we have a lot going on. Tomorrow I have my 23 week OB appt. I am always nervous and excited for my OB appointments. I always feel a lot better once we hear the heartbeat. This will be the first time seeing my OB since we found out the wonderful news we are expecting another boy! On Thursday we go to our weekly play pals group in Alton. Nathan loves going to this group to be amongst other toddlers and mommy likes to get out of the house and talk with other mommies! Throughout the week, we will be getting ready to go out of town this holiday weekend. Kevin has 4 days off, one of the benefits of working for the Federal Government. We will be going to my hometown, Quincy, Illinois to visit my family. I am so excited! We normally try to go to Quincy like once a month but it’s been two months since we made it there last. I can’t wait to see my younger brother Joe (he is 24 yrs old) and my Grandma Betty (my mom’s mom). Not to mention my families dogs :) My Grandma hasn’t been too well lately and it always puts a smile on her face to see us and Nathan. And of course we love seeing her as well!!!! She and I have always been really close! We have recently seen other Quincy relatives but are of course excited to see them again! My grandparents and aunt came down awhile ago to see our house for the first time. My mom and aunt came down for our big ultrasound day when we found out what we were having. My mom and dad came down for the American Idol concert in St Louis. It’s always good to see them again though!
I will be posting my next entry when we return from the Labor Day holiday weekend. My next entry will be all about our time in Quincy along with more details on how our little miracle Austin came to be!
Thank you so much for reading! I hope to hear from you on my TTM board! Take care and everyone have a great week! Safe traveling to all those going away for the weekend!
God Bless~
Kelly, Nathan, and soon to be Austin :)
