Nathan 26 ½ months old
Austin 6 ½ months old
The Boy Chronicles, Still Waiting, and More
My Little Boy
This has been a crazy month to say the least. Fortunately, Austin has recovered very well from his hypospadias surgery. You would almost never know he had it except for the adjustment in his ability to use the exersaucer and swing. We were told that he couldn’t use those baby items until after his 1 month post surgical appointment which is on July 1st. Life will be much easier once he can start to be in those two things again. It’s been a challenge to always either hold him, to have him be in a toddler rocking chair of Nathan’s, or to have him on the floor. It will be nice to have other options for him again later this week.
It is so amazing that he is 6 months old already. I don’t know where the time has gone. He is now rolling over both ways. He finally got around to rolling from his tummy to his back around his 6 month birthday. Now he is everywhere once you put him on the floor. He has been teething pretty badly lately. He now has two very visible front bottom teeth. It is so cute to see him smile with his two teeth. He is so close to being able to sit up completely on his own from laying on his back. He is always trying to scoot on the floor and will probably be crawling before we know it. It is so cute to see him on his tummy now. He gets his arms and legs going really fast, he looks like he is trying to swim or something ;) He recently started eating cereal. We decided to wait until he was 6 months to start him on anything. He seemed to enjoy the rice cereal and is now on oatmeal. We will start fruits and veggies real soon. He is finally starting to get the hang of it. Practice makes perfect right? ;) Every time we put the spoon in his mouth, he puts his two fingers in as well. So the majority of the time the cereal comes right back out. For now he is only in a diaper when he eats because a bib won’t do much good with how messy he gets. Once he stops with the finger thing, then we will have him in clothes when eating.
On his own, he stopped using a pacifier. We are happy about that because that means we won’t have to break him of it later on. Nathan did the same thing as a young baby. He likes to suck on soft baby toys though and his burpie cloth just like Nathan did. He still isn’t sleeping thru the night regularly; we are worn out most of the time. We are hopeful that he will start doing that real soon.
At his 6 month appointment he weighed 20 pounds and 8 ounces. He was 28 inches long. I believe he is in the 90th percentile in both height and weight. For the most part, he is a really sweet and happy baby. He truly adores his big brother Nathan and loves to look at him and he does his best with playing with him. It’s so amazing that he is 6 months already. It seems like yesterday when he was born.
My Little Man
Nathan is so amazing. I really love his age right now. His vocabulary has really taken off since turning two. It seems impossible to keep track of every new word of his but here are a few favorites –
Hi mom, dad, baby, or Nay Nay (one of his nicknames), or Daisy (our cat)
Bye with all the names above
Night Night with all the names above
Wuv You with all the names above
Turtle
White (he whispers white because he knows it is almost invisible)
Brown
Blue
Yes whenever he means thank you or your welcome, it is sooooo cute!
Oh oh
Moon
Green
Pull
Push
Mom instead of mama or mommy
Maw maw for my mom, he used to call her nana
Cheese
Sissy for our cat or Daisy for her
Kitty
Mo mo for Elmo
Ah bis this – we aren’t sure what this means but it is one of his faves and is so darn cute, we think he is saying something is big…… not sure ;)
He loves to say mom, dad, baby, nay nay all at one time whenever we do something or go somewhere. He is really into being a family of four and he is so protective of us all. He is so sweet.
I am sure I have forgotten some really great ones but that’s okay. He still really loves his stickers but we have tried to stop how many times he gets them. He used to not be happy with a few; he wanted the whole sheet at one time. He now likes colored straws, homemade flashcards, and animal crackers. He is always giving the animal’s hugs and kisses. He loves to be tickled and loves to tickle the three of us. He loves to play peek a boo with the three of us as well. He just recently started loving to play Hide and Seek, especially with daddy. He loves doing “this little piggy” with his toes. He loves playing the “What’s mommy say game?” We ask him what mommy says and he will blow a kiss, then we ask what the baby says and he says, “ goo goo ga ga” , then we ask what does daddy say, then he will blow a raspberry for that and finally when we ask him what Nay Nay says, he roars like a lion. It is so special.
I am so amazed how much he loves to learn and how quick he learns things. He still loves to say all the letters out loud. He will even make letters out of straws and other items, completely on his own. He now recognizes 0-10 and can say 0,1,2,3,9, and 10 for sure. His zero is so cute, he says, “wero” :) He still loves to play with his magna doodle. He loves for me to write whatever letters he tells me to. He gets so excited and I really enjoy playing with it too. He recently drew a perfect face on his magna doodle, there is a picture of it on my blog. He loves to match everything that he can. We have a colorful quilt that he loves to put certain colored toys on the right colored square on the quilt. He also loves to put a crayon next to the right colored of clothing. Hope that makes sense ;)
We LOVE his nap and bedtime routine. He sleeps with his little Elmo and a blue and white soft blankie. We always have him say bye or night night to the houses outside the window, we count them and ask him certain questions, then we both kiss Elmo and blankie and give Nathan 10 kisses on his head and then do the kisses thing all over again once we put him in the crib. He just recently started saying “night night mom or dad” to us and “wuv u” when we ask him. It really melts your heart.
Still Waiting
We are still waiting on any news. We have heard that we may not know anything until after the 4th of July. We have basically decided that no matter what it takes we are moving back to my hometown soon. Life is too short and we don’t want to live away from both our families for the rest of our lives. It is too hard and lonely. We are still hoping and praying that this opportunity will happen for us.
The 4th
Speaking of my hometown, we are traveling this holiday weekend to see my family. We haven’t been there in a few months. We are excited to see everyone and have a lot of fun plans. We are hoping this will be the last time that we have to travel to see them.
Our website
Our internet company changed the server it uses for websites so our website is no longer working. We have it all saved to our computer but are waiting to rebuild it once we know if we are moving soon because obviously if we are moving soon then it would be a different address again. I will keep you updated on that.
Blogville
I am still blogging away and I must say it is a lot of fun. I try to post daily on it but with all the craziness that may start to get impossible.
I hope this entry made sense, it is getting late and I am tired.
God Bless~
Kelly, Nathan, and Austin
http://kelly.typepad.com/kelly/ My Blog :) Come see me and let me know you are reading both places! Have a safe and wonderful holiday! :):)
