Kathryn's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

March 3, 2005

Sometimes I think about starting a blog because I sometimes have these little occurrences or random observations that I want to write about but they aren’t worthy of a whole diary entry. Since I really mostly favor this format I am going to do a mini blog-style entry here and direct you back one entry to the one I posted on 3/2 for the regular, longer, more thoughtful (??) prose.

I think she was mocking me…

Ava is a breakfast fiend. She eats a full breakfast each morning at home, then a second full breakfast when she gets to day care. This morning we get to daycare, after a LARGE bowl of ‘Piss-pees’ (Rice Krispies) and some raisins at home just one short hour before, and she makes a beeline to the table for some waffles. She’s so excited she grabs Josh’s (his real name) plate and goes to take her seat.

Kate: ‘No Ava, that’s Josh’s breakfast. Miss Jojo is getting yours.’

Ava: ‘Noooo. Mama. Aaaaaaa-buh.’

Kate (trying not to laugh): ‘Ava that belongs to Josh.’

Ava: Aaaaaa-buh (clutching the plate tighter)

All the while Josh is quietly snatching pieces of waffle of HIS plate, not saying a word. Hats off to his mother.

Why did I think this is so funny? I guess I like seeing her exert herself, even if it is a little bratty. Plus her tone was somewhat mimicking mine, which I found hilarious.

Public Service Announcement

The wool walking shorts with a blazer, tights and flats ‘out’ in the early ‘90s. Seriously. I’m sure Julia Roberts looked fab in that ensemble when you caught a ‘Pretty Woman’ rerun on TNT this weekend, but that movie was made over ten years ago. Time to give them up. Ditto for bangs that require Aqua Net to hold their style.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.
