22 Months Old!
Well it’s been a while so I will try to make some sense of this….
Halloween
Michael had a great Halloween, he enjoyed putting on his costume (a duck) and he grabbed hold of his plastic pumpkin for candy and we were on our way. At the first house he was a little confused, our neighbor tried to put candy in his pumpkin and he freaked out! He started to cry and ran towards Daddy. I think that he thought she was going to take the pumpkin from him. Anyway we headed towards the next house where he was given a sucker and some candy, now he was figuring this whole thing out. With a sucker in one hand and the pumpkin in the other we headed to the next house. This house was even more amusing as Michael tried to “exchange” his candy. He picked out something from his bucket and tried to exchange it for another piece of candy. Interesting theory on his part, however everyone just wanted to get rid of their candy :)
When we arrived back home we took a few more pictures and Michael sat down with his pumpkin to survey his loot. He had a sucker and he really does enjoy chocolate candy :) Just like his mommy!
Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving seemed to arrive quickly after Halloween, they day was filled with DH’s family feasting on a 22lb turkey, a 10lb ham and all the fixings. DH’s Mom was missed by all as this was the first major event since her passing. The kids had a blast as we had purchased an inflatable jump castle (9’ x 9’) from Sam’s Club and placed it upstairs, we even filled it with some of those balls from a ball pit. My Dad and step mom stopped by and played with Michael for a few hours as well. The National Lampoon’s Christmas vacation was put in to be watched, and of course we all shared a bottle of champagne. All in all we overate, and enjoyed each other’s company.
Day After
DH took off the morning from work and we went Holiday shopping, we were out the door with Michael in tow by 5:45 AM. Thankfully Michael had fallen asleep about 7PM the night before so he was in good spirits. We made it to Kohl’s and Toy R Us with no problems. We entered Circuit City and decided to not wait in line as it wrapped around the entire store. Best Buy was no better as they had stopped letting people into the store as they had met their capacity. Yes it was 25 degrees that morning :) We headed to Office Max found our goodies and stood in line. Michael was getting sick and tired of waiting and it was now about 7:30 so I took him to the babysitters. When I returned DH had only moved about 5 feet in line! After the 1 hour 35 minute process was up we headed out to Farm & Fleet, and then were off to Best Buy. Now Best Buy had a great deal on a cell phone, so I waited in line to make my purchase, I am not kidding 2 Hours and 12 Minutes later I exited the store!!!!
The past few weeks have been filled with DH working extremely long hours at his job and me Christmas shopping with Michael. For the most part Michael has been a superstar :) I am almost done with all the gifts; I just have a huge pile of wrapping to do. Michael is being spoiled once again with gifts! Gotta love the 1st child!
Cute Story
This story will show how much shopping I do. Yes I admit I am a shopaholic! Ken and I went out to do some last minute Thanksgiving shopping that Wed night. We entered Wal-Mart and got Michael and Icee to drink. Michael knows that he gets Icee’s at Wal-Mart, Sam’s and Target. I told you I like to shop! Anyway we couldn’t find what we were looking for so we left and headed to Target. We walked holding hands with Michael through the parking lot and into Target where the child bolted! He ran right up to the man at the restaurant counter screaming “ICEE, ICEE, ICEEEEEEEE”. DH and I were both laughing and embarrassed at the same time! Two Icee’s in one night :) At least it keeps him quiet in the cart!
Cough and Cold
What else is new this time of the year right? Well Michael was fighting a bad cough and I finally took him to see his doctor. He was diagnosed with an ear infection as well. He seems to be on the mend, but starting to develop yet another cough. I know it’s just that time of the year.
I also switched his pediatrician to someone much closer to home. I am in love with them right now; hopefully the honeymoon doesn’t end too quickly! I was actually applauded for still breastfeeding, and she said that if I choose to co-sleep and that was what I wanted they would support me however they could :) YEAH!!!
Birthday Celebrations
I had my 28th Birthday on the 30th of November. I received a sweater from Eddie Bauer that I had been eying and my annual Swarchovski ornament from my parents. I also received some Clinique makeup from my mom. All in all it was a nice birthday. It was the first birthday that I did not share with my Grandpa as he had passed early this year and that was hard; however I have many things to be thankful for!
Christmas Decorations
The outside of our house is decorated with lights. We hung icicle lights in the trees and it looks okay, we have a sleigh and some reindeer, and other pair of reindeer, and a solitaire reindeer as well. We can’t forget Santa, a snowman and a few candy canes in the mix. Think Griswald’s Christmas :) We have 3 trees up this year. A small 3’ one in the living room that you can see from outside, a 7’ slim one in the foyer lit up with 1” multi-colored ball lights, and of course our huge 7 ˝’ tree in the family room. We are still in the process of getting decorations up on that one though! Michael loves the lights and is enjoying turning them on every night when we get home.
Mole Removed
I had been putting off an appointment to have a mole removed since March. During my dermatologist appt in March she wanted to biopsy this mole, however since it is on my breast and I am breastfeeding she said I could just come back when he was weaned. Well here it is now I have a 22 month old that is not weaned. :) I also found out that we are switching insurance providers at work, so I tried to make a quick appt and luckily there had been a cancellation. I had the mole removed and 4 stitched put in. Nursing has been a little tricky with my very active toddler, but not excruciatingly painful. I have the stitches out on the 23rd of December, and I am defiantly counting the days at this point! I also received the results of the biopsy and everything was normal! YEAH! It sucks to have something like that weighing on your mind!
Garfield Park Conservatory
We took Michael to the Conservatory with my Dad and step mom this past weekend. He enjoyed every minute of being free to run around. We captured some precious pictures as well! They were having a dinosaur exhibit and Michael learned the word quite quickly and would even “ROAR” when asked what the dinosaur said. We ended the day with a dinner at Russell’s BBQ, one of my favorites. It’s a place that I grew up at with my Dad when I was younger. Michael seemed to really enjoy the “Beef” sandwich as well :)
Christmas Celebrations
We will be having a family Christmas with DH’s side of the family at our house Christmas day, and then that evening we will head over to my Dad’s house for dinner. I am really looking forward to it this year and Michael is the perfect age to enjoy the opening of presents!
Michael’s World
Michael seems to have changed a great deal over these past two months. He now says anything and everything and will learn new words if you just ask him to repeat them. With this comes independence. He is starting to “try” the ropes if you will. We are seeing fewer and fewer temper tantrums but when they happen watch out. Nothing will console him if he doesn’t get his way. The nice thing is you can start to reason with him as well! I love each and every day with him. It so fascinating to see him growing up right before my very eyes. He is looking less and less like a baby and more and more like a little man!
He has learned most of the parts of his body, and knows most animal sounds as well. He seems to almost know how to skip, but I think it’s more of a funny walk to him. Everything is “funny” and he loves to be tickled by his Dada. He even now says “I’m gonna getcha”
He loves all his dancing toys and will bob along to any music and day “dancing”. He is just unbelievably smart and cute all at the same time!
I will try to post again right after Christmas and tell you all about our celebrations :)
