My baby is turning into a little boy :)

Chicago Cubs Fever!!

Can you believe it? The Chicago Cubs have done it!!! It’s been 95 years!!! Even more exciting is I had 2 tickets to last night’s game. Game one of the National League vs. the Florida Marlins. (Thanks to work!) Ken and I had a blast! What a great evening and one to remember for a long, long time! Work up sore from standing, hands were sore from clapping and high-fiving and my voice sounds like a boy going through puberty :) All in the name of the game though! It’s really to bad the Cubbies weren’t able to pull it out in the end, but there are 6 more games to play! Michael’s babysitter was gracious enough to watch him last night. Believe it or not he went down for her with no problems. I woke him up at 12:15 AM when I called to tell her I was there to pick him up. He was a little disoriented and of course didn’t’ want anything to do with going back to bed when we got home.

Unseasonable weather

In Chicago it has been quite cold lately! We even reached a 27 one night last week! It’s all changed this week and it’s been in the 70’s! It’s nice to get out and not freeze!

What else is new?

Michael 18 Month Check-up

Michael had is 18 month well-baby visit at 19 months. He is doing well, although he screamed the entire visit. He hates doctors, or anyone with a white jacket on. His right ear was clear of all fluid and his left ear was too filled with wax to see anything. He was also in the process of getting his two eye teeth in. He was 27 lbs 10 oz and 32” tall. He also received 3 shots, the flu shot (was recommended because he is in a daycare environment) polio and one other one I can’t remember at the moment. We also discussed his eczema and the doctor told us to use regular Vaseline as it doesn’t contain lanolin. We tried that and ended up giving him Benadryl when his legs got red and itch and swollen. I tried to schedule an appt with a dermatologist and when their 1st available appointment wasn’t until December I decided to try his regular baby lotion again. Amazing but true his eczema is almost gone! Maybe he is just sensitive? I am using the Gerber Oatmeal lotion, so hopefully that will continue to do the trick! His next scheduled appointment won’t be till he is 2!

Halloween

Halloween is quickly approaching! We the outside of our house all decked out with lights! Michael loves them! I also bought his costume. He will be a duck. It just fits him, although his Daddy is less than thrilled with the idea. Michael for the most part picked out the costume, I took him to Kohl’s and all he did was pet this duck costume and say “Duck, Duck, Duck” over and over. He won :)

Naps

It seems we are figuring out that Michael does better on the weekends with little or no naps. He goes and goes and goes, and then finally around 7PM without a nap will sleep for a good 12 hours straight! Bliss is all that I can say! This brings me to another subject. Michael has occasionally started to nurse for a little while at bedtime, and then he will go and cuddle with his Daddy and fall asleep with him. I am not saying he is weaning, but I am glad to see he is starting to find other ways to put himself to sleep. I also LOVE the fact that he enjoys his Daddy so much!

Vocabulary

Michael’s vocabulary has exploded this past month. He is not using sentences a lot and is picking up new words or phrases all the time! He likes to play peek-a-boo with his Daddy and he now says “There’s Daddy”, “Where’s Daddy?”. He is also getting better at pointing or communicating exactly what he wants. This is a big plus in my book, it’s much easier to please a toddler when you know what they want, or at least you can explain to them why they can’t have it! We even have to tell the outside “night, night” before we can go to bed at night. Precious :)

Haircut

This past weekend I took Michael to get another haircut. He is still having the same reaction. Pure terror, he hates haircuts. He looks so grown up now though! He is adorable (yes I am totally bias) and his hair color is getting lighter every day! It’s almost a dark/medium blonde now.

Crayola…

Well I guess I should start buying stock, because out of the blue Michael is addicted. Every night he will play with his crayons and color for at least 30 minutes. I am delighted as this normally gives me plenty of time to get dinner started. He is getting better at drawing circles and I am assuming this can nothing but good things for him!

Outside

I mentioned earlier that we have to say goodnight to the outside every night. Well that would be because Michael would be out there on his swing set 24/7 if we let him. The 1st thing he does when we get home is tell you he want to go “weeeee”. He can climb up the ladder to his slide and then will push his body back and forth saying “one, two, weeeee” and then finally will let go. He also loves his swing now, he will sit in his baby swing for quite some time and we have also let him go on the “big” swing. He does great and hangs on tightly and is just so proud of himself. When he is done, he will even tell us “all done” or make reference to the slide “sli” or swing “swi”.
Big Boy Chairs at the table

Michael has started to sit at the actual chairs at the kitchen table. I converted his hi-chair to a lower height so it fits under the table and he can eat off the table like us. He seems to enjoy this more and I don’t see as much of a mess right now. I am going to have to get a booster chair for him soon. When I see one goes on sale I will have to buy it. Do you have a favorite one? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Grandma Chris came for a visit

My Mom came in from Florida for a visit. Michael adored seeing her and the feeling was mutual. He was a total ham for most of the visit. We ended up spending a good portion of our time at my Grandma’s house cleaning it up and throwing stuff out. She is closing on it this weekend and moving down to Florida to be near my Mom.

Grandma Chris taught Michael Ring around the Rosy, which he now will spin around if you sing it to him and jump up at the end and land on his butt. I don’t think he realizes how lucky he is that those diapers are thick :)

I hope that we are able to take a trip down to Florida in the near future (what a great birthday present that would be!) to see my Mom and her house! Not to mention the house that my Grandma is closing on late this week as well!

Garage Sale Weekend

Once again we had a garage sale. It wasn’t nearly as good as the first one but it still made about $400. Michael sitter was actually sick that week. First time ever she had to call everyone and tell them not to bring their kids, so it was fun trying to watch Michael and do the garage sale at the same time. Luckily Michael’s cousin Ashlee came down with her Mom and helped out with him.

Quick Stats

• 13 Teeth – 4 Molar, 4 top, 4 bottom and one eye tooth on the top
• 32” Tall
• 27 lbs, 10 oz
• Fits into 2 piece 18 month clothes, 1 piece clothing is 24 months
• Size 4 Diapers (Pampers Premium or Huggies Supreme) I also like the new convertible diapers when I receive them as samples
• Running, Jumping and Climbing like a champ
• Loves to color
• Starting to like songs like Itsy Bitsy Spider and Ring around the Rosy

Last but not least…

I have AF once again. This was actually a 35 day cycle. I wonder if my body is starting to regulate itself? I have never been regular (I was always on the pill), so here’s hoping. I just hope it gets lighter. It’s still extremely heavy. But it does help to know that when we want to start to talk about TTC a brother or sister for Michael we are one step closer!
