Sarah-
Plans for her birthday party are coming together. She is going to have a Dora Fairytale Princess party, which I know she'll love. I think we are going to have it at a local playground, b/c she keeps insisting she wants to have her party outside. It will be a little chilly, but that's okay! We are going to keep it pretty simple, inviting only family and a few of her friends. Does anyone know the protocol from how far in advance to send invitations? TIA!
We have hit kind of a rough patch with Sarah lately. Why do I think the "threes" are going to be much harder than the "twos"? She is in a rebellious phase, where she talks back a lot, complete with nasty tone. Then, whenever we correct her, she has a complete meltdown. She cries over EVERYTHING and the littlest thing can set her off. Sometimes Moe will say something funny, just joking with her, such as inserting her name into a song, or telling her she is a monkey or an elephant- whatever. Just something silly. And she will freak out! She gets mad and bursts into tears, and says, "Sarah's not a monkey!!" or whatever. It's enough to make you crazy!! Sometimes I think she has lost her mind (and that I might lose mine!!). She also has a meltdown whenever we tell her "no" or to stop doing something. I feel so guilty about this, but I actually was happy to send her off to preschool this morning! Can anyone tell me how to deal with this terrible behavior?? It is really putting a strain on our relationship with her. TIA!
OK, on to happier things...
Joshua-
I just did an update on him on a message board, so I hope no one minds if I copy and paste it here...
Sleep Schedule: Normally sleeps overnight for 12 hours, say 7:30pm-7:30am. His naps work on a 2-3-4 plan: 1st nap is two hours after he wakes up in the morning, next nap is three hours after he wakes up from first nap, and bedtime is four hours after he wakes up from second nap.
So a typical day would look like this:
Up at 7:30am
Nap 1 from 9:30-11:30am
Nap 2 from 2:30-3:30pm
Bedtime at 7:30pm
Eating Schedule: We don't really have a schedule. He eats when we eat (b/c he would have a FIT if we didn't give him anything!) and then whenever he's hungry. He probably has solids about three times a day, and we nurse whenever he wants.
Favorite Foods: Honestly, we have not yet found a food that he WON'T eat!! He is a little piggy! He always wants to eat off our plates, too, and BOY can he put it away!!
Favorite Toy(s): He likes balls of all different sizes and any of sissy's toys! LOL. I got him some Peek-a-Blocks yesterday, and he seems to like those. At first, Sarah was more interested than he was!
Favorite People: Me, of course, but Daddy and Sissy are a close second. He also loves his grandparents, and our neighbors, who babysit for us.
Newest Accomplishments: Where do I start?? He waves, claps, blows air out of his mouth (as if blowing out a candle- perhaps he's practicing? ), makes his lips vibrate (don't know how else to describe it), and he makes kissing noises!!! It is SO cute!
Now onto large motor skills- LOL! A few days ago he started getting up on his hands and knees. He would crawl forward a little bit and then flop onto his stomach again. Now he can crawl several "steps" (?) on his hands and knees! As a result of this, he can now also get from a crawl position to sitting. To top it all off, he is pulling up on everything! His favorite thing to pull up on is sissy's plastic table and bench set. You all know what I mean, right? It's a plastic, one-piece picnic table-type thing. Anyway, he is on the move! And he never stops! He'll climb all over me when he's in my lap. He's even strong enough to knock Sarah over when he climbs on her! But she still loves him...
Anything else you'd like to add: Josh got his second tooth in a couple days ago! Now he has his two bottom front teeth. I knew he'd be a late teether, b/c Sarah was SUPER late! (She got her first tooth at 13 months!! ) So, by those standards, he was early! LOL.
He is a really sweet boy, very friendly and "talkative". He loves to babble. Both of my kids are big talkers. Huh- wonder where they got THAT from??
One thing he does that I could live without is screaming at the top of his lungs when he is frustrated. Anyone else have a screamer?
Other than that, though, he is perfect! I love him to pieces, and I can't believe he is going to be 1 YEAR OLD next month! :sob: Time goes by SO fast...
**JOY TO THE WORLD!**
Well, the holiday season is upon us. I am thrilled! This is my favorite time of year. We will be having Thanksgiving at my parents' house, as usual. However, we are considering hosting Christmas dinner at our house this year. Wonder what kind of an undertaking that will be...
I have started shopping, little by little. I'd rather do it that way, than a mad dash at the last minute. My plan is to finish up ahead of time and actually be able to relax and enjoy the season this year!
OH YEAH, and last but most certainly NOT least...
WE FINALLY GOT A NEW CAR!!!!!
We had been driving a 1995 Toyota Tercel, 2 DOOR! You can imagine the back problems I had with two kids, two carseats, in a two-door!!
But no more!
We are the proud owners of a 2003 4-DOOR, Ford Windstar! And I couldn't be happier...
Happy Holidays to me! (And to all of you, too.) LOL.
Til' Next Time,
Jennifer
