Jennifer's Diary Entries

August 5, 2003

Wow! So much is going on, I don't even know where to start. Guess I'll justy dive in, huh?

*****
OK, well since I my last entry was all about Sarah and the potty, I guess it only make sense to start with that.

In a nutshell, shewasn't ready. My child is not a potty prodigy. Oh well. LOL. I am not in any hurry. The potty is still there, and if I am in the bathroom, she will sit on the potty (clothed) to imitate me. Sometimes she also puts her doll on it. She even "wipes" and "flushes". She knows what goes on there, she is just not ready yet.

*****
The pregnancy is going good. I am 21-22 weeks and feeling movement. Still not as much as I like, but maybe this little guy is just mellow.

For those of you who don't know, we have decided to do a homebirth. We interviewed some midwives in our area, and decided on one last week. My first appt. with her is tomorrow, and I am really excited about it. She does all the prenatal visits right here in our home! My doula is also coming, so the two of them can meet. I will be sure to let you know how it goes. =)

As you may know, I have been a SAHM ever since Sarah was born. I have LOVED being home with her, and watching her blossom into a wonderful little person. The only drawback has been money. Things have been really tight lately, so we decided that I would look for a part-time job. I tried everything from the mall to home-based businesses (ALL scams! the ones I found, anyway).

Just when I was about to pull my hair out, I had a good friend from church talk to me about Princess House. She has been doing it for years, and she makes great money. I went with her to one of her parties. I felt- this was something I could do! The hours are totally flexible (you set your own), the money is great, and the job is fun! The products are awesome, so it's easy to brag about them. Once you tell people about them, they practically sell themselves! (If you are not familiar with Princess House, you can check out www.princesshouse.com)

Anyway, my friend (who is 40-something, by the way) is my supervisor and she is great! She is 3rd in the nation in sales, so I know I am training under one of the best! She is wonderful and supportive, and never gets tired of answering my questions. DH & I have known her and her family for years, so she really has a personal interest in me. She is doing everything she can to help me succeed. So, I am really happy about all of this. It works out perfectly for us, b/c we only have one car. So DH takes it to work during the day, then I work nights and Saturday, while he stays with Sarah. The perfect arrangement!

*Bonus* All this extra time with Daddy (and away from me) is really helping with her "mommy attachment" issue. YAY!

*****
I hvae recently been dealing with an issue. I started off just feeling uneasy about it, but now I am adamantly against it!

The issue?

Circumcision.

As you know, we are expecting a little boy, so naturally, the issue came up. Dh thought we should, but I was not feeling right about it. I did TONS of research, surfed many websites and searched my heart...

I want to share the links to a few websites that helped lead me to my final (and unwavering) decision:

http://groups.msn.com/APhearts/circumcision.msnw

http://www.noharmm.org/christianparent.htm

http://www.cirp.org/library/procedure/plastibell/

I will warn you, though. That last link is not for the faint of heart. It shows photos of an actual circumcision. I would urge anyone considering this proceedure for their baby to check out these links first.

Having read and seen all this, I am now wondering how I can get involved in some anti-circ. advocacy. Anyone know?

Sorry if I have offended anyone who chose to circ., but I just cannot imagine putting a tiny, innocent baby through that.

On that note, I have to run before lightning zaps my computer and I lose this whole entry. Bye!
