Jennifer's Diary EntriesDiary Navigation: |
July 20, 2003
Hi everyone!
I usually don't post two entries so close together, but something SO exciting happened, I just had to write about it!!
First, a little background info: We have told Sarah that we go pee-pee and poo-poo in the potty. She has seen us go to the bathroom many times. She will point to the toilet and say "pee-pee" or "poo-poo". I have even sat her on there a few times, just for fun. She seemed mildly amused, but nothing ever happened.
Well! Last night, before her bath, she pointed to the potty and said "pee-pee." So I said, "Yes, that's where we go pee-pee." Then almost as an afterthought, I asked, "Do you want to sit on the potty?" She did, so I took off her diaper and put her on there. She just sat there smiling, so I said, "I don't hear any pee-pee." And then...she peed! I was SO excited! I praised her to high heaven, and that made her even happier. Then, DH came home while she was in the bath, and I told him. He made a big deal about it, too. She was as pleased as punch! (So were we! LOL.)
After that, I just decided that I will put her on there whenever she asks. No pressure, real low-key, because honestly, I really don't think she's completely ready yet. Also because I am not up to the task of full-blown potty training right now, being pregnant and all. Lots of back pain.
Anyway, she has sat on the potty four times today, and the second two times, she actually went pee! Hooray! I am so excited! My daughter is a genius! LOL.
***Talk to Me***
Has anyone else has this happen to them? What did you do? Is there anything you would recommend doing that I haven't already thought of? Keep in mind, she is only 19 months old. TIA!
The proudest mama on the planet,
Jennifer
