Jennifer's Diary Entries

THIS WILL BE A SHORT ENTRY. JUST SOMETHING THAT'S BEEN WEIGHING ON MY MIND. NEXT ENTRY WILL BE BACK TO THE KIDS AND SUCH. THANKS!

I have wanted to ask this for a long time, but I guess I was just afraid that I am the only one with this problem... But I'll never know unless I ask, right?

So here it is- I want to know if anyone else finds it difficult (read: virtually impossible) to live up to the expectations placed on you. What I mean is, taking care of the kids, housework, cooking, cleaning, etc. I am a SAHM, and I always feel like there is something really wrong with me b/c I can't seem to keep up with it all. My DH is a wonderful, understanding man, but I can tell he still doesn't "get" why I can't manage to keep the place clean when I "stay home all day". On top of everything, I don't know how to cook much of anything.

I feel so frustrated b/c I feel like I don't measure up to all the other "housewives" (and even moms who work outside the home!) who manage to keep a household running smoothly. Am I just a horrible underachiever, or are there others out there like me? Those who understand that taking care of a baby all day is a job-and-a-half. Those who are just too tired to face that sink of dishes. That hide from that pile of laundry. Is society's perception that moms should be able to keep a perfect house true? Or is there a dark secret that we never let on? The secret that we really can't do it all, and we don't want anyone to know...

I am the first one "out of the closet"...anyone else want to join me?
