Jennifer's Diary Entries

Diary Navigation:

March 11, 2003

Just wanted to tell everyone
Freezing ain't my idea of fun!
So I'm packing real light,
Gonna hop on a flight,
And reclaim my place in the sun!

There you have it.  My sad attempt at a limerick.  Ah, well.  Who can blame me for wanting to rhyme about it?  (Or sing.  Or shout it from the rooftops!)  I am going back to the place I love.  The place that's been home to me my whole life.  "Where everybody knows my na-ame..."  LOL.  Yes, dear readers, come Thursday afternoon, I will be reunited with my family and my hometown.  They say it's 80 degrees there.  Ahhhhh....

*IT'S A FAMILY AFFAIR...

My family is (naturally) thrilled.  They become more excited with each passing day.  My mom has already bought all kinds of cute warm-weather clothes for Sarah, including a pair of jellies (sandals).  I can't wait to see her in them!

Of course, the down to my up, the Yin to my Yang...DH's family.  Every day draws them closer to goodbye.  It's a strange phenomenon- as if the happiness is slowly draining out of his family, and being siphoned into mine.  (sigh)  I just want it to be over already, so I don't have to be so conflicted anymore.  (Does that sound selfish?)

*NEXT STOP: PROCRASTINATION STATION

Here's where I get off!  I must admit to you now, I am JUST now starting to pack.  "What??" you must be thinking.  "She leaves the day after tomorrow!  Is she crazy??"  Probably.  Nevertheless, I have now taken on a Tasmanian-like aura, spinning around the house in a frenzy of list-making, sorting, and laundry.  I have put all that on hold, however, to compose this entry for you, oh faithful readers.  (Are you wagging your finger at me yet?  LOL.)  Oh well.  Better late than never, right?  ...right?  Anyone?

*A BIT OF CATCHING UP...
Besides the move, a few other things to catch you up on:

My trip to the dentist

A week ago I went to the dentist because some of my teeth were bothering me, and I suspected a cavity (or two).  What I was not prepared to hear was that I had SIX!!  Holy rusted metal, Batman!  Quite literally!  Turns out, one of my previous fillings wasn't put in properly, and my poor tooth paid the price- a deep, nasty cavity! He filled that one, and when my X-rays came back, that's when he told me I have five others! Oy! The others are minor, though, and he said there was no rush to fill them. Oh sure, like I'm going to just wait and see how bad they can get? Honestly! So, once I get settled in Florida, it's time for another trip down "Novocain Lane". Woo-hoo! (ugh)

I can't find my wedding rings!

It's the darndest thing, but I seem to have misplaced my wedding rings, and truth be told, I am quite upset about it. See, I don't wear them much around the house, because the diamond in my engagement ring snags on everything, and the wedding band looks so weird without it, so... I just wear them whenever I go out. Well! I always keep them in the same place, and now they're gone!! This is especially upsetting to me because we are moving. I am scared to death we won't find them, and I'll have lost them forever! Please pray for us to find them and, oh yeah, for my sanity! TIA.

Sarah, girl genius?

Ok, ok. I know EVERY parent thinks their kid is the next Einstien, but hear me out. Sarah is REALLY smart! She is less than 15 months old and she already has a vocabulary of...are you ready for this?

51 WORDS!!!

I am not kidding. I have been keeping track. (If you want a list of all of them, go to her webpage at http://www.babiesonline.com/babies/s/sarahtaslim/ They are listed under Milestones.)

Obviously, she is super smart. I'm sure this surprises no one, as both of her parents are bonafide rocket scientists! LOL. J/K. The truth is my DH is very smart, though. And if you ask anyone else, they might say the same of me. Of course, I can't say it, because that would be tacky...

I will say this, though: When I was 3 years old, I had memorized the entire Gettysburg address. Why my parents decided to teach me this, I don't know. But I think it's pretty impressive, and worth stating for the record. LOL.

ANYHOO...
I really do have to get back to packing now. You should expect another entry from me shortly after I get settled in (read: after I have spent a few days on the beach and gotten my tan back!). Until then, my dear friends, I bid you adieu.

Have a great week, everyone!

Jennifer
