Emily, 2 years, 2 months
Visit with IL's.
Our visit with Jeremy's parents yesterday seemd so quick. We had a really nice visit. Once Jerry and Sherrie arrived we went to the Irvine Spectrum. Irvine Spectrum started out as a theatre with a few shops and restaurants. Over time more and more restaurants, shops and amusements have been added to make a huge entertainment area. It was nice to look around but very hot. Jeremy is fairly sensitive to the heat. When he was young it would make him sick to his stomach. I wonder if Emily takes after him because she was so flushed our whole time there. She also had a few cranky moments, but that might be because we were there well past lunch and naptime.
We did enjoy a really good lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. I forget how good their food is and never think to go there. Of course they are known for their cheesecake but we were so full from lunch that we didn't eat any. After lunch, Sherrie wanted to take Emily on the carousel. I didn't think it would work out very well because Emily is still really afraid of rides. In therapy she still gets scared to go on a swing or ride in one of those Little Tikes cars. I'm starting to wonder if it's a problem with small spaces because she is fine riding in a wagon without a cover and there is a board swing in therapy that she will ride (a board that is about 2 feet by 4 feet that you sit on and swing low to the ground). Regardless, Sherrie got onto the carousel with Emily and they sat on one of the benches. I really think it would have worked out but it took so long for them to get the ride ready to go that by then Emily chickened out. So they got off of the ride and Emily was more than happy to watch it spin round and round without her on it.
One thing that Emily loved was the water fountains throughout the Spectrum. Last year Emiliy didn't want to go in my IL's swimming pool but yesterday I thought she was going to jump in all of the water fountains. She was so excited to see them. I think she would have stood by the water fountains all day if we let her.
Emily's Talking More and More
In the past month or so Emily's talking has expanded so much. She seems to pick up more and more words every day. With all this talking we are really starting to see Emily's personality come through. Jeremy and I have always referred to Emily as being the drama queen. Now with words to match the emotions, it really is funny to listen to her. Yesterday we went for a drive with Jeremy's parents and put Emily's carseat in between Jeremy and me in the backseat. Emily saw all the oncoming cars in the opposite lanes and kept shouting, "WATCH OUT, WATCH OUT!!!" It was so funny.
Emily's other favorite phrases are, "Ooooh, it's sooo cute." with crinkled eyebrows and cocking her head to the side. Today I showed her a new outfit I bought her and she told me, "Oh momma, it's soooo pretty. I love it!" It's so funny to hear my little girl be so passionate about the simplest of things.
Today was laundry day so we got all our laundry done this morning. We did a little bit of shopping between washing and drying at the apartment laundromat. Jeremy wanted to look at a used car lot for a possible trade in for his truck. With all of the driving he's been doing now that he goes to the office we're starting to realize how expensive going to work in a truck can be.
After Emily's nap we plan on going to Target and see if I can get some seeds and start a planter box garden on my balcony. I'm planning on getting tomato and pepper seeds and hopefully being able to make my own fresh salsa soon.
