The Birthday Celebration~
Autumn and Gabriel had the "best birthday ever" in their words. Although, they tell me that each and every year too. Instead of going out to eat with my family, we decided to have them all come here. I made chicken enchiladas, rice and beans and we had chips and salsa too. Then for desert I made a marble cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. When everyone got here we had our mexican feast. Then, when our bellys were full we let Autumn and Gabriel open their presents. Their Nanny and Papa bought them portable CD players. Autumn's is maroon and Gabe's is blue. Then from us Autumn got a new jacket which is hot pink. It's reversable and has a hood and gloves to match. She told me that it was so comfortable she wanted to sleep in it. ;0) She also got a long sleeve shirt from Old Navy, an art set by Lisa Frank and a keepsake kit which had little boxes and a picture frame that she could decorate with all these markers and stickers and beads. She got a purple leotard which she's been asking for so she can do her cartwheels in. She also got a sterling silver necklace with a heart on it from her Grandma Freda. Plus a Lisa Frank coloring book with new crayons.
Gabriel got a stuffy puppy dog named Darby. He had asked for a "real" puppy and although we treid to find one, we just didn't have enough time. He got some of those tennis shoes with skates inside which I think are his favorite things on the whole earth. :0) He also got a pull over hooded sweat-shirt from Old Navy, a Magic Kit with 40 different tricks, a Sponge Bob DVD, and a sterling silver necklace with a race car on it from his Grandma. Plus a new Incredible Hulk coloring book with new crayons. Then they each opened a gift that they had to share with each other. One was a checker game and the other was a News Boys CD. They were both so excited with their new things and ran off to play with everything with their cousins.
Shortly after the gifts were opened we all sang happy birthday and watched as they both blew out the candles on their cake. We ate our cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. Yum!
While we were all sitting around watching Gabe's new Sponge Bob DVD, I asked my brother and sister-in-law if their boys could come up and stay the next weekend with us. They both agreed and so we told all the kids about it. Autumn and Gabriel have been talking about it non-stop for the past week and today is the day they come to visit. We cannot wait for them to get here!!
Is it Winter already??~
I cannot believe how fast the weather has changed. The moment it offically became Fall, the cool air blew in and it's been chilly nearly everyday since. I went and bought Matthew and Christian new coats for Winter since they had out grown their other coats. Plus, they wern't very thick coats because we had been living in Texas and it doesn't get nearly as cold there as here.
I also picked up two new pairs of pants and two shirts for me because all of my other clothes are too big now. What a nice problem to have huh? I've made it down to 139 and cannot believe it. My goal is right around the corner and it looks like I'll make it there before Christmas. :0)
On the road again~
As you know, back in the Summer when Mark moved us up here to live with my parents, our van motor blew up on the way. Totally depressing since it was our only vehicle and we didn't have any way to fix it. Since moving here, Mark's mom let us borrow one of her cars which is such a blessing. It's not the best, but it's been wonderful to have something to run around in when I need to grab some groceries or pay a bill. Well, a friend of ours told us about a man that she knows who would look at our van. I'm happy to report that he has our mini-van in his shop and we should be hearing something about it really soon. I pray that he finds out that it's only something minor and that it wont cost too much. Hey, I can dream can't I? ;0)
Pictures~
If you've checked out my website, I'm sure that you've noticed that the pictures are pretty old. Our scanner broke in the Spring and I don't have a way to put new pictures up. I had Christian's 1 year pictures taken in May which are adorable and I can't even share them with you. :0( This week Autumn and Gabriel got their school pictures back and they are so good. We were all so pleased at how they turned out. So as soon as I get a new scanner I promise to update the website with new pictures too see.
Have a great weekend and take care~
Jennifer :0)
