Eight short years ago today I gave birth to my precious darlings Autumn Raine and Gabriel Allen. They were and still are everything that I ever hoped for and prayed for. Having them and their brothers has changed my life for the better in so many ways. My words could never begin to express just how much they mean to me. But three years ago, just before they turned 5 I wrote this poem about them and I wanted to include it in this entry in honor of their 8th birthday.
***Autumn and Gabriel***
My little girl, my little boy,
Although so big, so small,
It seems unfair that time has flown,
My babies I recall...
The day that I could finally hold,
My angels from above,
Your tiny hands, your precious face,
My heart consumed with love!
The late night cries and endless walks,
The songs I used to sing,
While moonlight sparkled in your eyes,
I'd rock you back to sleep!
Those memories are captured,
Forever in my mind,
First time you talked, first time you walked,
Your hands reached up to find...
That I was always there for you,
To comfort, care and pray,
- To guide you and to mold you,
Each day along the way!
My little girl you day dream of,
Living like a princess,
You brush your hair and paint your nails,
Then put on your Cinderella dress!
My little boy you ride your bike,
Play swords with all your friends,
You love your dad the "BESTEST",
It shows in your precious grin!
So now I want to let you know,
How you have touched my soul,
Because of you I am complete,
And forever I will hold...
The memories of days gone by,
Held captive by my heart,
May God be with you all your life,
Stay close and never part!
My Autumn and my Gabriel,
Remember this forever,
That I am always here for you,
Whatever you endeavor!
Today I whispered "I love you",
So softly in your ear,
You stopped your play and turned to say,
"Mom, I love you BIGGER"!!!!
Thank you Autumn and Gabriel for coming into my life and blessing me with the privilege of being your mother. I love you with everything that I am.
