There really is no place like home! Tuesday morning I recieved a call from Mark from somewhere in Oklahoma. He said that they were just below the Missouri border and should be in Branson to get us around 2:30pm. So that was my cue to get everything packed up and bagged up and ready to move. At about one o'clock Gabriel and Autumn started getting anxious to see their daddy so they sat out on the porch. They got excited as each truck drove by and then sighed heavy as it kept on going. I could hear Gabe from inside the office. Everytime he realized that it wasen't Mark he would say something like "dadgumit" or "awww man". It was hilarious! When Mark and our friend Don finally did show up it was hugs and kisses galore. We all helped load up our things into the Uhaul truck and then headed to Buffalo. The kids and I rode with my parents behind the truck which could only go around 55 mph at top speed. Can you imagine how long the trip from Texas to Missouri must have felt to them? Shessh!
We got to Buffalo and met Don's wife Christa and children and then they all followed us to the house. Several people from our new church came to help us unload. It was so wonderful have that many people helping.
We've been here 5 days and still don't have all of the boxes unpacked. But it is starting to look more and more like home. Our home! :0)
Thursday was the first day of school for Autumn and Gabriel. Their school had started the week before but because we were in Branson they had to start late. Autumn's teacher is Ms. G and she's a middle aged, motherly woman who has been teaching for over 15 years. She's very kind and Autumn likes her a lot. Gabriel's teacher is Ms. S. A twenty-something, young, hip chick, who is full of smiles and is such a delight. Gabe has already told me that he thinks that she teaches too easy. He said that he already knows the spelling words that they have and that all the math is easy. I told him that she is probably just reviewing what he learned in 1st grade. Let's hope so anyway!
Matthew and Christian are loving their new home. They have so much room to walk and play. Plus being in their own beds again makes it so nice. I will be registering Matthew for his classes this week and then the bus for special education children will be coming to pick him up.
This will give me a lot of alone time with Christian again and I am really looking forward to that. While Autumn and Gabriel were little I was able to stay at home with them and teach them. I am excited to be able to do the same with Christian.
Mark will start his new job on Tuesday in Springfield. One of the men who we go to church with helped him get hired at a furniture moving company. I just hope that the weather here is cool enough for them. It's been blazing!
So that is that, in a nut shell. Oh..and one funny story before I go. Yesterday my friend Christa (MT diary writer) and I went to Branson to get my last check and then our plan was to go shopping for hours. Well, on the way back from Branson her car runs out of gas. Her cell phone was out of minutes and it was pouring rain. Then to top it all off....I HAD TO PEE!!! So she gets on the cell and contacts her provider so they can add minutes to her phone. After that she calls her friend Julie who lives in Springfield (about 25 miles away) and she leaves to come and get us. All this time, my bladder is SCREAMING at me. I swear...I've never had to go that bad. I had on a short blue-jean dress that buttoned up the front. I told Christa "Forget this, I'm peeing and I don't care who sees me." I opened my door, hiked my dress up around my butt, held up a 44 ounce cup and got ready to pee in it. Low and behold...I could not go. All this time Christa is over in the other seat laughing her butt off at me. Nice huh? ;0) I sat there for a good twenty minutes...all exposed and just could not go. So I stood up and tried to relax as the rain slapped me in the face. After a few more minutes, I tried again and ahhhh sweet relief at last. I filled that whole cup up too! Right after that, Julie pulled up with her gas can and we drove Christa's car up to the nearest gas station. It was shaking and although she had the peddle floored it wouldn't go over 25 mph. She had to call and have it towed to her apartment. But in the mean time, Julie let us borrow her car so that we could do a little shopping before I needed to be back home. I mean honestly...we had to shop a little. ;0)
Take care~
Jennifer
