Happy New Year everyone! I hope the New Year is already going wonderfully for you and your family. Now that we are all over the sickies and pukey stuff, life is getting back to normal. We’ve had a busy and fun two weeks while the kids have been on Christmas break. They tell me that they’re ready to go back to school but that they’ll miss being home with us. I always miss them so much after having them home. If I had my way, they’d be with me all the time. :0)
Last Saturday I called my parents to see if they would watch Matthew and Christian so that Mark and I could take Autumn and Gabe to Silver Dollar City to have some fun. They agreed to and so we left after Mark was done working a half a day. We hadn’t been there since Christian was 5 weeks old. With it being two days after Christmas they still had all of the Christmas lights and decorations up. It was beautiful and we all enjoyed it so much. That evening was really crowded but we didn’t mind a bit. When we got into the park, we decided to ride a train roller coaster called Thunderation. Mark and Gabriel sat together and Autumn and I sat together. It was so much fun to ride with them and hear their expressions. Autumn was whooping and hollering, Gabe was looking around with wide eyes and I just kept laughing at them. From there we went to the Great Shoot Out where you ride on a boat through some caves. You get these electronic guns which keep track of points when you shoot at these targets as you ride through. It’s a lot of fun! After we were done there we walked around and looked at some shops. We made our way over to the swinging balloons and Autumn and Gabe rode on those while Mark and I sat on a bench and talked about how big they are getting. It’s amazing how one day you have babies and the next day you have grown children. The ride was soon over so we walked over to the newest roller coaster called Wildfire. When we got to the gate Gabriel decided that he didn’t want to ride. Autumn said that she wanted to so she and I stood in line for over 30 minutes. When we finally got to the coaster they told us that she was to short to ride. Autumn was sad but I told her how proud I was that she even wanted to try. We’re hoping that she’ll grow enough to ride it when Silver Dollar City opens again in the spring. We looked around a little more and then left to have dinner in Branson.
*Return of the King*
Are there any big Lord of the Rings fans out there? I’ve read a few diaries of women who really enjoy these movies. Well, I’m a MEGA fan and I simply cannot get enough. I have the first two movies in the extended version DVD set as well as the books. My sister in-law Heather is another big fan, so we love conversing about the books and the movies. She and I went to see Return of the King, which was the second time for both of us. It was just as exciting as the first time and we were both crying (again!) during the last hour of the movie. As soon as the kids are back in school and I have the time, I’m going to start reading my books again. Seeing the third part of the movie and all of the discussion has gotten me excited to read some more. I was thinking about how sad it will be to not have a new movie to look forward to by next Christmas. But at least I’ll have the Return of the King for my very own...my precious. ;0)
Our New Year’s eve celebration was really quiet. We stayed at home and watched the countdown in New York City with Dick Clark. When it turned midnight (eleven our time) and the ball dropped, we cheered and yelled HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! It was fun to see our kids welcome in the New Year with us. I’m really excited about this New Year and I know that it has many wonderful things in store for us.
I hope that you all had a beautiful and blessed holiday season!
Take care~
