We found out that a family friend was killed last Tuesday in Iraq, along with three other soldiers in a bombing. I guess you don't really think about it, about people being killed in a war that you try to forget, until something like this happens.

His wife Celeste just had their daughter Cadence Freedom this Saturday, a baby he'll never see, never hold. She'll never know what a wonderful dad he would've been, but she'll definitely know what a wonderful man he was, and how much he was loved by so many.

We met him when he was 10, and was my sister's schoolmate, and first "puppy" love. He died at the young age of 22.

Corporal Jeffrey Lawrence, we will remember you. Rest in peace friend.
