Hey Everyone,

I am no longer the nameless one! Despite Sam’s leaps in vocabulary – he couldn’t seem to muster up the strength to call us Mommy and Daddy. I swear it was being obstinate. Then one day last week – he walks up to me and says, “Mama.” OK, as much as I love that he now identifies me, remind me why I was so anxious for this? He must use that word a zillion times a day. And, if he’s not saying that, it’s Daddy. Or he’s calling the dogs Teegan and Ty – very clearly. They used to be Tee and Ty. He is REALLY into names. He keeps pointing to pictures of my parents and saying Nanny and Poppy. I wonder why everyone has a “y” at the end of his or her name, and I am Mama? I do like that when he gets up and is ready to be out of his crib – he yells out Mama rather than cries. So much more grown up!

Speaking of cribs – at this rate Sam will be in a crib until college. It’s just that he LOVES his crib. When he wakes up in the morning we have to pull him out very unwillingly. On the weekend he will play in there for an hour before calling us. Same with after naps. I never thought he’d like it in there so much. It’s not like there’s much to do. He has two Uglybunnies, a teddy bear, the Peaceful Planet Aquarium and another activity board and a little hanging thing with stuffed giraffes that velcroes on one side. But what he is REALLY into is his blankets. He sleeps in a bag, and we usually put a blanket or two on as well. But he also has a down bag and other blankets draped over his glider. He wakes up and yells – Peeeeesse! You go in, give him all of the blankets and he’s as content as can be. I am definitely in no rush to move him to a big boy bed.

I am impressed, however, at how well he’s napping at day care. They don’t sleep in cribs -- they sleep on mats. I thought this was a recipe for disaster as Sam is infamous for waking after 30 minutes – crying for 5 and then settling back down for a couple more hours. So I figured he’d be up and about at that 30-minute mark. But the daycare staff says that he just goes and lies down, they put a blanket over him and he is OUT. He is not sleeping as long at home yet – apparently if another kid wakes Sam does as well, he’s not used to the noise. But he makes up for it on the weekend – we end up waking him after 3 hours every day.

Daycare is going OK. He is still crying when DH drops him off, but the teacher says that it stops immediately now and he is content throughout the day. He is sleeping, eating, drinking, and playing with the other kids. It has been really warm lately so they’ve been outside a lot, and he’s come home with a few bumps and bruises from all the playtime. When I get him every day – he is happy to see me, but then he goes back to playing – so he’s not anxious to leave or anything. So I’d say he’s adjusting. It’s so cute that he brings home “arts and crafts” now. Our fridge is getting covered!

Oh, and did I mention that they drink out of cups – with no lids – at daycare!! I can’t believe it but he is doing this as well. We’ve been trying to reinforce this at home, and he now drinks like a pro. The only problem is that when he’s done drinking, he does not realize the limitations of the cup. He will shake it or tip it over. If he doesn’t finish his drink, this can be messy. He still gets a sippy cup when he’s not at the table – and will likely do this for a LONG time!

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend. I baked for days and then cooked the traditional feast. My parents flew in which was really nice. They SO dote on Sam and he eats it up, of course. I was really pleased with the way the dinner turned out, even if Sam thought that all that was there was corn, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie! Actually, Sam’s hardly been eating supper lately; he seems to concentrate his eating into two meals of the day!

We took advantage of the free babysitting that weekend and went for a nice dinner and saw Intolerable Cruelty. It was pretty good, entertaining, different. I have to say that Catherine Zeta Jones is too gorgeous for words. Her skin is flawless, hair perfect and she has curves where a woman should have curves. But you know what, she just icks me out in real life so I have a hard time not translating that distaste into a distaste for her roles. But I try! George Clooney has the best voice in Hollywood, and wore the nattiest suits. But he looked a little skinny and bug-eyed. I have a hard time with skinny guys.

This past weekend we rented the Matrix Reloaded. OK, I cannot say I enjoyed that at all. I guess I always thought the first one was a little weird, but the best way I can describe this one is monotone. That may sound strange because there is a lot of action. But it’s almost like the story goes nowhere, the dress is tones of gray and drab and even their intonation goes nowhere. That being said, I’ll probably rent the third when it comes out – I have to see how it ends.

TTC – going nowhere fast! I am on CD16 today and I haven’t even had anything close to a positive on the OPK. It seems like I am Oing later and later ON the drug. I had no side effects this time. I am seriously considering stopping the Clomid and trying my luck at herbs again. We’ll see. Oh, and I went back and read my old Precon diary and apparently Clomid lengthened my LPs then as well. Ah well, we get our new comfy pillow-top mattress delivered tomorrow. Maybe the shot bed with the springs through your back was the problem!! We’ll just have to break it in when it arrives. Hehehhehe.

Until next time,

Jenn and Sam
