YAY -- I can log on again. I am thrilled --I have been trying to figure out how to set up a blog and my heart just wasn't in it. I wanted to keep writing here. I lost my password over a month ago -- so I have been in posting no-man's-land. For now I'll post the entry I had posted on my TTM -- it's from March 25th -- so way out of date. I'll try to update on the past, what, 6 weeks -- tomorrow.
Until then....
Hey everyone,
Sam is two – two whole entire years old. Wow. I swear my pregnancy is as fresh in my mind as my breakfast yesterday. We had a really good time at his party. I just said screw it and invited three close friends – I refused to bow to peer pressure! But as two guests each had two kids, and their spouses, my parents and DHs mom came, that was still 16 people. As nice as it was I am glad we didn’t have any more.
But everyone was in a great mood – no tantrums from any of the kids (one twin kept biting the other, but apparently he’s used to it as he took it in stride). The theme, of course, was Blues Clues. We have created a Blues Clues monster. My kid who barely even noticed the TV three weeks ago has asked to watch his “Blue Bideo” all day long – every day. I need to get more selection! I found a Blue shaped cake online and my mom baked it and my dad, of all people, cut it out and iced it. He was really into it, it was like a challenge for him. He did a great job for someone who has probably never decorated a cake in his life. The kids just played and played and then we had cake and almost everyone decided to stay for some hamburgers on the BBQ. We hadn’t invited them to dinner initially, but we had the burgers and salad made just in case, as the party started late in the afternoon. It was a really nice time. Sam received mostly clothes this birthday, although we bought him a Thomas the Tank Engine starter set and my parents bought him the play board. For now it is on our coffee table – DH and my dad plan on building a little table for it. Our new house, and our new rental, have playrooms so we should have more space. Sam also got some books, trucks, paints and coloring stuff. I know he had a blast – he smiled all day!
The day before his party he had his two year check up. His ears were filled with fluid but no infection. But she said it’s a good thing he’s getting tubes with all that trapped fluid. He was 24 lbs (20%), 34 inches (50%) and I can’t remember his head circumference, but it was 95%. He is back on his curve – YAY! I don’t mind that he’s a little skinny, as long as he’s growing. She was amazed at his verbal ability. At one point he looked at her and asked, “Doctor done soon so mommy and Sammy go to Sam’s house?” He speaks in sentences all the time now – it’s like he challenges himself. He’ll start out with a 4-5 word sentence and repeat it a few times adding a word each time. It’s cute to watch him learn. The once test he didn’t “pass” was that he couldn’t jump. Can anyone else’s two-year old not jump? He’s never been overly physical though, so I’m not surprised.
On the house front, we are out of here in a week! I can’t believe it, we still have so much packing to do! But I am thrilled that the sale went so well. And my oh my did we find a great place to rent. After looking at places I wouldn’t send my dog to live in – we found a gem. I had been diligently surfing the net and I found a place just as it went live. It is a brand spanking new house – new appliances, new blinds – it’s nicer than our current house! A few guys built a bunch of new houses for rental income. So we are renting a nice 1800 sf house for six months. Plus it is in a lake community and the lake is only for the use of residents. Water in the summer? In the virtual desert that is Calgary (this is a man –made lake)? I am pleased. So I am currently calling every freaking place that has our address attached and doing the change of address thing. We are just changing it to our eventual permanent address – so we’ll have to drive over to the new subdivision a couple of times a week to visit the Superbox and get our mail.
Right now I am home with a sick boy. We have been home all week. The poor little guy can’t catch a break. I just really hope that these tubes are the be all and end all they claim to be. He basically has been ill since November, and consequently, we have all been ill. He has his surgery on Tuesday. On the one hand I am nervous as hell, on the other I am totally excited that he will be well. He doesn’t look healthy – he’s really pale with dark circles under his eyes. I want him to be robust in time to enjoy the summer.
Right now that fluid from last week turned into a double ear infection AND a nasty rotavirus. I think rotavirus is a fancy word for gross stuff coming out of both ends. I had him back at the doctor this morning since he has been doing his thing nonstop (11 loads of laundry in seven hours HAS to be a record) and he looked dehydrated and he can’t even keep his antibiotics in. They said he is indeed dehydrated – he has lost two damn pounds since his two year appointment last week. They prescribed Gravol (I think it’s a Canadian thing – it’s OTC anti-nausea stuff) for the vomiting saying the runs would have to go away on their own, but he needs to keep water and his medicine down. But of course, he can’t keep anything down so they prescribed suppositories. OK – I was SO freaked out about this, poor little guy! But he didn’t even seem to notice them going in. Within 10 minutes he asked for some Rice Krispies and then 10 minutes later he zonked out (Gravol makes you sleepy). I hope I can get some fluid and some antibiotics in him when he gets up. I called the hospital and they said having the surgery on antibiotics is fine – in fact it can be a benefit. But he has to get rid of this stomach thing or the anesthetic will really bother him. I have missed more work in the past four months – I cannot even tell you! I’m amazed I still have a job -- things have been terrible at work actually. But I can’t leave him and DH is WAY busier at work than I am – so we’ll have to deal with any fallout if it happens.
But enough about the sickies – I didn’t mean to bore you to death!!
I am doing much better on WW. I haven’t lost piles of weight, but I’ve dropped enough to go down two pant sizes. I am in the size I will be in when I reach my goal, I’ll just look better in them! As for TTC – well, this may bore you to death. I am not pregnant, and so we have broken that crappy one year TTC mark. I hate that mark. But hey, it was lucky cycle 13 when I got pregnant with Sam. Now I am not superstitious – but I’ll grasp whatever straws I can. Well, I guess I am a closet superstitious person. I hate to admit it as it sounds so redneck, but I make a wish when I blow out my candles, I would never walk under a ladder and I will hope that cycle #13 is our lucky number. The fact that DH is traveling at ovulation time notwithstanding. Sigh.
Talk soon!
Jenn
