Hey Everyone,
I have to say this is a pretty boring week to report on. It has been filled with house, house and more house stuff. You would not believe the amount of cleaning we have done. I mean, you could eat off the floor behind our stove or the coils on our fridge. We are clean people – we spend four hours every Saturday cleaning the house top to bottom. But I felt like the biggest pig when I started washing our cupboards and moving stuff around. We don’t like knick-knacks and we hate clutter, but somehow I packed up almost 40 2 cubic foot boxes in my de-cluttering efforts. We listed our house last night on a For Sale By Owner site. Now we just hold our breath and try to keep our house this clean! Showings will be a pain. We have two (luckily non-shedding) dogs that go nuts when people come to the doors so for every showing we will have to take them for a drive. Plus there’s the fact that Sam goes to bed at 8pm and we don’t get home until almost 6 – so that’s a pretty limited window. And I guess we’ll need to eat somewhere in there. I cook hot meals every night and I have visions of my nice nutritious meal plan turning into many evenings at MacDonalds!
Speaking of food – I have broken down and decided to rejoin Weight Watchers. I spoke with my dr. about it at my yearly physical and she said WW is fine while TTC as it teachers you to eat a proper amount of well-balanced foods without eliminating any nutrients. I could just follow the points plan, but I NEED the weigh in – coming down is my goal for the week. She told me to take it slow – try and not lose more than one pound a week. She doesn’t know my body – losing one point a week is a lot for me! I want to lose 20 lbs over the next five months. So in two weeks I’ve lost 2 lbs exactly. But that upsets me – I mean, I usually lose lots the first week – like 3-4 pounds. But c’est la vie. I just decided I was sick of seeing myself in the mirror every day. And who knows when or if we will ever conceive again? I decided to stop putting my life on hold and do some things for myself. Plus, it gives me something else to obsess over!
As for TTC – I had AF about 10 days ago. I think I missed the boat when I was in Ottawa. My temperatures were wacky because in one cycle I had a sinus infection and a UTI. This month my temps look more like the samples, although since this is only my second month temping I have no idea if there’s any trend. My doctor is doing a whole shwack of testing on me this month due to some other, not really related health issues. I feel like a human pun cushion. I get some results tomorrow, go for more blood next week and have another apt. the week after. I hate going to the dr. so this just sucks! We also have Sam’s apt. with the ENT next week so we have WAY more drs. visits than I would like.
I am wondering when to move Sam into his “big boy bed.” I was going to do it at two. But he loves his crib still. Then there’s the fact that we might have to move into a rental if our house sells. So do I just make the switch along with the move or is that too much at once? I think we’ve picked out the set we want for him. We’re just going to buy the bed until we move into our new house; we don’t have room for another new set of furniture.
I also have a car seat question. For those of you with one child – where do you position your car seat? We have always had it in the center of the back seat as for babies that is the safest. But is it the same for toddlers? I ask because it is getting harder and harder to maneuver this taller, heavier (although he’s only 23 lbs!) kid into the center of the back seat. Is it bad to have one car seat on the side? And if you do move it, which is the best side safety-wise – behind the driver or the passenger?
Sam has started to eat a bit more lately which I attribute to the fact that he’s been two weeks without an ear infection. But his nutrition level is woefully inadequate. For those of you with picky eaters, can you give me any tips to get fruit, veggies or meat into this kid? He used to love it all. The only meat he’ll eat is ground beef now. He hasn’t had a veggie or fresh fruit in months. Like most toddlers, he loves carbs and since he’s so small I don’t mind if they help him bulk up a little. But I would like to find yummy ways to serve healthy stuff. We eat VERY little processed foods, but hey, I’m open to the possibility!
Talk soon,
Jenn
