October 11, 2003

Collin is 2 years, 3 months old.
I’m 29 weeks pg.
Today is our 6th wedding anniversary!

Our ultrasound on Friday went good. I drank as much of the 40oz of water as I could but my stomach wasn’t feeling too great that morning and it was hard. In fact, I threw up earlier that morning, which I haven’t done in a few months. I’m hoping that 3rd trimester nausea isn’t going to hit me, but I’ve heard many stories of this. Just my luck!

I arrived at my appointment exactly at 11:00am but had to wait for them to set everything up. By the time the tech called me in, got everything ready to go, it was 20 minutes past appointment time. This didn’t bother me at all because Mark was meeting me at the hospital from work so it worked out rather perfect. By the time he made it in the room, we were just getting started.

It was much harder to see the baby this time around since she’s grown so much. It’s been 10 weeks since our first ultrasound so you can’t see the whole baby at once like you could the first one. It was fun to watch her though even if we did have to concentrate on one part at a time. Everything looks healthy. The heart is great, the cord looks good, spine is normal, and so on. I’m measuring early again and this time the measurements have my due date at December 16th. According to my LMP, my due date is December 26. According to the first ultrasound my due date is December 21 and now this ultrasound says December 16. I would love it if it were the 16th. Close enough to Christmas yet far enough away to be out and a little rested at home by the time Christmas day comes. Of course with babies you just never know, so I’m not setting my mind on ANY due date.

The tech said baby was pretty much head down but would once in awhile flip up and lay sideways so that her head was on my left side, her feet were on my ride side. She’s measuring approximately 3 pounds, 5 ounces already, give or take 9 ounces. 9 ounces is a lot to give or take, but I know those guestaments are just that, a guess based on current measurements. The tech couldn’t get a perfect peek between the legs but was pretty confident in saying she’s a girl, just like the first tech said. She definitely didn’t see any boy parts. She also couldn’t get a really good look at her face so we didn’t get any of those cute little ultrasound pictures. We did get a good picture of her feet and got cute video of her hands, feet, and my favorite part…HAIR ON HER HEAD! It’s so cute to see a little fuzz line around the baby’s head. Amazing!

The tech took a few more measurements and then I was free to wobble into the bathroom to relieve myself. My spine and hips were killing me from being on my back so long and I needed Mark’s help to get up, ouch!

Mark had to leave to get back to work so we said goodbye and I went into the bathroom. When I got out the tech said that the radiologist had looked everything over and that I could leave knowing everything was healthy and fine. She wished me good luck and I was out the door.

It was so wonderful seeing our little darling again. Sometimes I’m in shock just knowing I’m growing life again. It’s the most delicious, breathtaking, beautiful feeling ever. When I saw little Ireland on that screen it made me even more excited than before to see her and hold her. I can’t wait to meet her and welcome her into the world!

Happy anniversary, Love, and thank you for 6 wonderful years. I love you.
