Collin is 2 years, 3 months old.
I’m 28 weeks pg.
Here I am with just a quick update from yesterday’s appointment. Mark stayed home from work today, so he was able to attend my appointment with me, which made me really happy.
I gained 4 pounds, bringing me up to a total of 18 pounds so far. With Collin’s pregnancy, at this point, I had already gained 30+ pounds, so 18 pounds for being 28 weeks sounds a-ok to me. My blood pressure was good (I can never remember the exact numbers), my urine was good and the baby’s heartbeat was really strong. Baby is head down, right now, and I’m measuring exactly 28 weeks for fundal height.
This was my last monthly appointment; I will now start going every two weeks, which makes me excited because time should really start going faster now. This was also the appointment that I had my glucose tolerance test. Last time I got the cola drink, which to me tasted like a flat Coke, but this time I got the orange drink. I know a lot of women really dislike this drink, so call me strange or weird, but I actually liked it and thought it was yummy. Could be because throughout this entire pregnancy, I’ve had strong, strong, cravings for really sweet soda. The orange glucose drink just tasted like a really sweet orange Sunkist soda to me. I guzzled it down within a minute, no problems. I had my blood drawn exactly an hour after and even got the results before I left my appointment. My glucose was at 96 (normal) and my iron was at 10.5. With the iron, they like to see anything over 12, so that puts me 1.5 points below. Bummer. This just means that now I have to take an additional iron supplement. My first pregnancy I ate so healthy that I never had any problems with iron. This time I’ve been a little more slack with my diet so now I’m going to be paying by taking an iron supplement that will probably constipate me. Fun times. Slow F.E. was recommended to me since it’s a slow releasing supplement that is kinder to your digestive track. While I don’t really mind taking a supplement, I’d rather not. Does anyone know if I can get a big boost of iron just from changing something in my diet or do I really need these supplements? Remember, I’m a vegetarian so I don’t eat any meat. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
After my OB appointment we stopped at Walgreens and got a 60-pill pack of the Slow F.E. for $18.00. I’ll start taking it today. I want my baby to get everything she needs.
Before I left the office, we scheduled an ultrasound for Friday, Oct. 10th, at 11am. This is to double check the four chambers of the heart since they didn’t get a decent shot of it at my 18-week ultrasound. I still have to have a full bladder by drinking 40oz of water 1-2 hours before my appointment. I’m really dreading that part. It was bad enough to hold it when I was 18 weeks, holding it in while being 29 weeks is really going to be painful.
This works out nice because our 6th wedding anniversary is Saturday, Oct. 11th. This will be a great little present, being able to get another sneak peak at our little darling.
I’ll update after the ultrasound on Friday.
