Collin – 3 years, 3 months (almost!)
Ireland – 9 months, 12 days.
There is no possible way to catch you up on everything that has gone on in our household since I last wrote a real entry. I do feel bad that I haven’t kept a blow-by blow of what life is like since Ireland’s birth, but thankfully I do write every little detail down in a baby calendar and I’m great about writing down the tidbits in her baby book.
My little dolly is a firecracker! She’s swift, inquisitive, impatient, and has no problem voicing her dislike about something. She also very sweet, smiley, and very cuddly. But she’s also extremely sensitive. She gets her feelings hurt very easily. She weighs 21.5 pounds and is about 30” long. She’s wearing 12-18 month clothes and size 3 diapers. She drinks about 30oz of formula a day and has never been too keen of drinking from the bottle. She’ll do it, but hardly ever finishes the whole thing. She’s great at the sippy cup, loves water and juice so I don’t think weaning off the bottle is going to be much work. Ireland loves food! Really loves her fruits and most veggie’s (squash!) but still can’t tolerate peas. She gobbles up finger foods and is crazy for cheese, baby goldfish crackers and toast. She also really loves when I give her mashed up green beans and carrots. She most definitely prefers “real” food compared to mushy baby food.
Ireland currently has 6 teeth (getting her first at 5 months) and has had a painful time getting them in. She’s very sensitive to pain and teething has been rough for her. She still battles her eczema, mainly on her left elbow and a little in the creases behind her knees. We use Elidel, cortisone cream and keep her lotioned up like she’s a wet little seal.
She rolled over very early, sat up and crawled very early and is now a cruiser. She’s been cruising the furniture for a couple months now and is even starting to stand alone for a few seconds at a time before gently crouching down to the floor. She waves bye-bye, shakes her head no and baby babbles. She loves to chase Collin around the house, loves to snoop and dig around in his room, where the cool toys are, and loves to pet the kitties. She loves Elmo, I’m assuming because of his annoying loud voice and his bright red appearance. She also adores her little blanket we call Lovey.
Ireland is great in the car and her and Collin hold hands most of the car trips around town. What really brings a smile to my heart is the incredible relationship that they have formed. They adore one another and are very close. They cuddle, laugh and play. They are two peas in a pod for sure! One of the best best things is seeing the bond they’ve formed, the closeness, the special moments and what they bring to one another. I can see the love they share and how much they truly worship one another. I just love to just peak in on Ireland and Collin and watch them interact and play. Words simply cannot describe what I feel for my children. It brings tears to my eyes and makes my heart swell with love and delight. They are by far the most important, most inspiring, most Godly, blessings that have ever happened to me. I strive every day to be the best mom and woman possible. To show them how much they are loved and how much joy they bring the world.
We are leaving for our first family trip on Friday! Ireland has some sneaky virus right now that is causing her to have a high temp. I took her in to the ped’s office this morning just to be certain it wasn’t something else. Hopefully it will be cleared up before our vacation starts so that Ireland can enjoy herself.
Like always, I’m rushed and on the run, but I’ll be back after our trip to show off pictures. Take care and thanks to everyone for sharing such awesome travel tips and ideas!
~Jennifer
