The Basics
Camryn is 3 months. I am estimating that she weighs approximately 15 pounds, mostly in her cheeks, and is about 24 inches long. We go to the doctor mid month and I will write in the actual weights and measurements at that time. She is still suffering from colic on occasion, but she is the happiest baby you will ever meet. She loves to be held up in a standing position and talked to. She will coo and try to mimic the sounds she is hearing. She is a budding genius, folks! I am going to buy a mirror for her to talk to, when Hannah was an infant, we would place a full-length mirror horizontally on the floor to let her see and study herself. We are hoping that Camryn will enjoy this activity as much as Hannah did. I have to constantly remind myself that my children are two individuals with different interests, I catch myself assuming that if Hannah liked it, then Camryn will as well. And Gary and I can already tell that the girls are very different.
Hannah is 20 months. What a momma’s girl! But I could not be more thrilled. I cherish the relationship she and I have. I pray that Camryn and I will be as close, and that both girls will remain as close throughout their teenage years.
Hannah is continues to struggle with her constipation problems and we have moved away from mineral oil and are now taking Myraplex.
Hannah has three, of the four, one-year molars. Hannah has four teeth on top and four on the bottom, not counting her molars.
Hannah is doing much better with her jealousy. She has become a little more patient with me while I handle Camryn. I think I have become more patient with her as well. I try to busy Hannah before I sit down with Camryn.
Look out Princeton, Here We Come!
Hannah has learned her ABC’s and how to count to ten. Sometimes she forgets “8”, but she is eager to start again to slip “8” in. I know when Hannah is singing the ABC’s she is only making sounds and really cannot grasp the actual concepts of the alphabet, but as her momma, I am positive that she is definitely gifted! J
I am a bit troubled however, Hannah will not, and never has, sit still long enough for me to read a book. I usually do not get past the first page. She either wants to turn the pages or bring me all of her books. We have tried reading to her while she plays, but she won’t have it—she wants interaction. So I will be a good mommy and do whatever her little heart desires. J LOL
Dancing Machine
Hannah loves the Teletubbies, and will try to mimic some of the children who dance on the show. One little tap dancer has sparked Hannah’s interest, and Hannah loves to try to copy every move she makes. I am thrilled with this development! I have wanted my girls to be baby ballerinas as long as I can remember. They might not love ballet, but I think Hannah will enjoy Tap and Jazz.
The Holidays
My first Thanksgiving went really well. The turkey Gary fried was awesome, and everyone brought side dishes that were absolutely fabulous. I really enjoyed getting together with our entire family. Plus the new tradition of having Thanksgiving at my house was nice. My grandfather passed away in June and I know my mom was not looking forward to the holiday season. I think it helped to take her mind off her grief, if only for a minute.
I would like to start traditions for my children that hopefully we will continue and they will look forward to them each year. A few traditions we have started are:
1.) On Christmas Day make a birthday cake for Jesus.
2.) Each year I will give the girls a Christmas ornament to reflect something they did the past year. And we will open them on Christmas Eve night.
3.) Go look at Christmas lights together.
For Christmas we have already gone overboard this year! I just can’t help myself! This is my favorite time of the year. Although I am doing a lot of my shopping online this year because I do not want to expose Camryn to so many germs, I love to shop for Christmas and decorate, and cook. Maybe I should be working a little more on the cooking and a little less on the shopping and decorating.
My Paw-Paw
Although he passed away almost 5 months ago, the holidays are the toughest when you have lost someone you loved. My grandfather was the most gentle man I have ever met. He was forced to raise his girls when my mother’s mom died of an aneurysm when my mom was 5. He married my grandmother when my mom was about 7 and they were married for 43 years until his death. I have complete adoration for my Paw-Paw and miss him terribly. I know God has an angel in my grandfather.
As my birthday approaches, I know I will miss how he called us and sang “Happy Birthday.” My grandfather, and his brothers, kept our family together and strong. With him gone, it has really been tough to even do the little things that we have done for so long.
Questions:
1.) Has anyone heard of Myraplex, or had a constipation problem with their toddler?
2.) When should Hannah’s eye-teeth come in?
3.) When should Hannah be able to brush her teeth by herself?
Blessings to all,
Jamie, Hannah & Camryn
